That was a great piece! Their physical training reminded me of NASCAR pit crews, many of whom are also former college football players.

Something I noticed in our local veterans' gatherings. When asked about branches of service, people will say, "I was in the Army, I was in the Navy, etc.". But regardless of age or when they served, Marines say, "I'm a Marine"."

That’s because it’s weird to say “I’m an Army” or “I’m a Navy.” And the terms “Soldier” and “Sailor” are not specific to the US military. Although I suppose people could say “I’m a grunt” or “I’m a swabby” but that is not very polite.
