Tourists in Florida had a much better chance of being killed in an accident driving to the beaches and the theme parks than they did from being crime victims but when the Europeans got the idea in their heads that they were sitting ducks the politicians declared an emergency and took measures to try and get them back.
If you don't think the lost money from tourism isn't going to interfere with the welfare of the people you're out of your mind. If you can't afford to heat your home because of energy taxes you can afford it even less when you don't have a job.
