The A16 motorway at Calais in the north of France is blocked in both directions. Protesters want to stop lorry traffic from getting into the Euro Tunnel.
I’m on the train to Paris from Barcelona and I was afraid they might try to block the Spanish border today. No problem, I’m in France and about half way to Paris now. But I am a little concerned about the arrival, because blocking or attacking trains is a big European “protest” technique.
Needless to say, I planned my trip well before the riots broke out! However, the train is pretty sparsely populated, even though this is a holiday weekend, so I think a lot of people cancelled.
