A Los Angeles city councilman proposed on Wednesday that the city require movie theaters and sports venues to serve vegan food.
The law would make Los Angeles the first city in the nation to impose such a mandate. At a press conference on the steps of City Hall, councilman Paul Koretz announced the measure alongside representatives from PETA, the Humane League, and the Los Angeles Food Policy Council. The ordinance would require theaters and other large-scale entertainment venues that serve food to offer at least one vegan protein option on their menus.
Theres really no downside to it, Koretz told Variety. The change could easily be made in any venue. A movie theater serves hot dogs. They can serve vegan dogs. Its easy.

The theaters have a hard enough time filling their rooms as it is. Don’t start trying to make people conform to something they have no interest in. Maintain the separation of Vegan and State, please! Religious groups couldn’t get away with mandating ‘Customers must say Grace before eating, and it must be said aloud!’ Can you imagine the rage and hilarity?
These leftist jagoffs vote for government control. And when it gets out of hand the Leftists run for the hills. Once there, the leftist jagoffs vote for government control. And when it gets out of hand the Leftists run for the hills. Once there,...............
If there’s no down side to adding a vegan option and if there’s a demand for it, wouldn’t the theaters have done it already? I mean they’re out to make money right?
Or maybe the theaters just aren’t aware of the demand. In that case, maybe the councilman could contact the theaters to make them aware. Then you wouldn’t need a law.
But of course it’s more fun to force people to do stuff.
I actually know a vegan, and he does perfectly fine figuring out what he can and can’t eat, all by himself, thank you.
Great. Now we’ll have overpriced vegan options along with the overpriced everything else.
Vegans dont eat nachos since cheese is an animal product as is the butter on the popcorn.
There was a time when stuff like this would surprise me.
Mmm...Tofurkey dogs and nachos with coconut oil cheese...
California sure reminds me of that...
I don’t think that’ real butter.
“Theres really no downside to it,
My shiny hiny....It costs money and cuts into profits carrying inventory and offering a product that doesn’t sell worth sh!t.
And it’ll take 30 minutes to cook
“And when it gets out of hand the Leftists run for the hills. Once there,..............”.
Yep, you’re describing the Californication of Colorado. And many other states.
Ahh! Greetings, fellow Pittsburgher!
(I can always spot one by the use of the term “jagoff”)
It’s only a wealthy civilization at peak empire where this kind of nonsense is allowed to flourish.
A movie theater serves hot dogs. They can serve vegan dogs. Its easy.
You will Order people to buy them or it’s 2 weeks at the local Reeducation camp
Hitler was a vegan. Now LA is going full Nazi.
Yes, stock a product NOBODY WANTS... no cost at all.. order it... throw it away when it expires, order some more....
No cost at all... except to the customer who must pay more for things they want to cover the cost of things that the theater owner is forced to buy, and throw away...
If people were CLAMORING for TOFU at the theater, they would be serving it....
