I believe Rosenstein was confirmed with more than 90 Senate votes. If someone has support on both sides, look out.

You are absolutely right. Trump no longer deserves the benefit of the doubt when nominating cabinet level personnel. I’ll go so far as to say Trump is the worst at this task as I have seen in the fifty years I’ve been watching politics.

I think our government system is beyond redemption. Regardless of who is in which office. There is no fixing it. All they can do is maybe....maybe, slow the slide. There are just not enough people who have the perseverance and will to fix it. It would be a massive fight and most of America would howl about the way it would have to be done, including Conservatives.

Yep, pulled by Javanka he always seems on the edge of believing that they’re gonna let him into the club without him 100% disavowing his MAGA, swamp-draining agenda.

What if? What if Pres Trump is in fact still building the wall and what if Pres Trump is still president and making decisions that are based on informed sources who know what they are talking about? What if Pres Trump was denied a second term by No Trumpers who know the alternative to him is a regime that will destroy this Republic and replace it with a one world govt that has no loyalty to any nation, least of all America? The No Trumper ducks are walking and talking alright. And they are in full support for killing off the Republican party by ousting Pres Trump. Does anybody really believe that Trump supporters will vote for any other Rep candidate?

Trump is no dummy. Barr is better than you think, otherwise Trump wouldn’t do it.

Like Sessions?

Why not just nominate Nancy Pelosi and be done with it?

>> 2 years ago I would have agreed with you. Now, having watched one disastrous nomination after another crash and burn (howsabout McMaster? Tillerson? Sessions?) my approach is pessimistic until proven otherwise. He’s brought in the wrong person time after time and no longer deserves the benefit of the doubt. <<

I wish you would have felt that way when Trump was nominating judges for a lifetime appointment on SCOTUS. He picked a couple of Bush cronyies who said Roe v. Wade was super duper settled law and publicly pledged that they wouldn't overturn it. 99% of FReepers responded by having orgasms over Trump's selection and gushing about he had chosen an "originalist" judge and "kept his campaign promise to give us a Scalia-like pick"

Here they go again, the demodummie “obstructionists” will once again resist, avoid, resist and obstruct anything/everything/anyone Trump nominates for any government position. Demodummies are doing their utmost to destroy this country.

Whatever is going on here with this pick, I do not know.

I do know that people expect Trump to have moved into the presidency and turned things around immediately. He might just give up at one point as some suggest but I don’t see that. He has never worked with inside the Beltway people. He has to find dependable people from a group of people-strangers to him- who occupy a system that is so mired in deception that that he could not have, at first, known that a sweet southerner like Sessions could have been so anti constitutionalist, so obstructionist and passive aggressive, I guess compromised, that he would have spent two years keeping the swamp infested.

Trump didn’t see that at first. If he didn’t learn from that tgen I am wrong about him. I don’t think I am. He’s figuring it out.

Isn’t it like a fixer upper house project? One in a different city than the one with which the buyer is familiar. A well-recommended contractor comes in on the project. The owner trusts him and is too busy moving in to the new neighborhood he doesn’t at first notice the contractor is not doing the job. The contractor doesn’t want the old house fixed up. Its a great old house with ‘good bones’. It’s also been vacant of a family for many years. It’s been used by these town leaders to run sleazy, illegal, very lucrative operations.

They don’t care about the out of control tree root undergrowth or the rodent infestation. And they don’t want some powerful, loving, law and order family moving in there messing up their good deal.m

The new owner is motivated to fix up the house, for his family, for his investment, as well as for the town’s future. He is learning which local contractors to trust, but there are very few. He can’t even find good advisors.

The locals want him out of there. He’s upsetting the status quo. They taunt his supportive family.

He’s either going to figure out whom to trust or give up because there is no one to trust.

But figuring out whom to trust will take some time and effort.

Trump and his father renovated the Commodore Hotel. A place with good bones that had rotted in a times squeeze neighborhood that had itself rotted. The town (NYC) didn’t want them to do it. But they did it. Made a lot of money for the Trumps. Which they donated to charity.

We find HG channel interesting. We love to watch try or the twins tear down and refurbish old houses full of rot and decay. It wasn’t always a favorite topic but now it is.

We want this and Trump knows it.

That’s the big picture for me. That and God is above it.

Cabinet members come and go, SCOTUS judges last decades.

If Trump’s “originalist” judges DON’T overturn liberal “precedents” like abortion-on-demand and gay marriage, we’re really screwed thanks to his cheerleader squad on here.

The President can’t find someone better than a Bush retread to work for him? Well if he thought Sessions lacked loyalty to him I imagine Barr is going to be a lot worse.
