That’s a nice version too. Somehow, the song takes on a different feeling when sung by a woman.

Somehow, the song takes on a different feeling when sung by a woman.

That seems to be true for a number of songs.

Blues in the Night--Anne Shelton (1942)

Creature Without a Head by Lenny and the Squigtones.

Moonlight does funny things, I’ve heard the wiseman say,
But when you’re in love, your moonshines every day.
You don’t even care if you’re living or you’re dead,
You’re the creature without a head

Once I was so happy, my girl and I were one.
Everything seemed ok
But then one summer night, a radioactive cloud came down and absorbed her head away.

We meet in the darkness, in our happy place
She’s got a great body so who needs a face
True love is romantic so I’m frantic instead
For the creature without a head

Sadly, I wrote down those lyrics from memory.

I have memories of this song.I was producing a Teen Dance show TV at the time. One of our volenteer’s was torn between leaving his wife or going back to his regular job.Father heard his confession on the set.He asked me to play this song after confession and dance with me.He left and got a regular job.:)
