Won’t be long before fedex, ups, usps are going to require “package” boxes where they can deliver your packages.
.
This isn’t just in Sam Framfrisco.
Its happening all over and drivers are getting scared to even stop their trucks to make delveries.
.
I set out a package this morning with garbage in it.
Gone by 9.
All those missing sex toys!
All those missing sex toys!
I have to believe this is a problem in every large city.
Seriously though, this happens everywhere. Walmart has taken notice and now has a "ship to store" option for their on-line shopping service. And walmart.com has almost as much stuff as Amazon, and for the same price.
A couple months ago, after a long search I found my guns that had been lost in a tragic boating incident. The gunsmith had the repairs guns delivered to my house where they were stolen by a porch pirate. Yea, thats the ticket.
There are deck boxes you can buy. Screw them down to the porch. As soon as a package is inserted and the lid is closed and a flip of the switch, it’s locked. Can only be opened with a key. Very handy in town where stolen packages are prevelent. Have your package put in your garage, a shed and have your carrier lock the door when they leave. There are many ways to thwart a would be robber. Get creative.
Here in the safely RED inland Northwest, we’re having a rash of crimes like this. Someone stole the key to the apartment complex mailroom and can grab anything from mailboxes in the middle of the night.
And yesterday, a pickpocket stole my Galaxy5 phone right in front of the door of local supermarket in broad daylight. Happened to another woman on my block too. I went down to police HQ to report the crime, offer to meet w with sketch artist because I know exactly what this guy looks like.. He’s a career criminal. Surveillance cameras showing g him robbing nearBank of America have been all over tv. I have no clue why they cannot catch him; I have the feeling they really don’t even try.
Meanwhile, I had to buy an expensive new phone. GRRRRR
Find someone in your neighborhood who is retired and ask them if you can have packages delivered to their house. Offer to pay them (some will be happy for the additional funds) get a bunch of neighbors together and have their packages delivered. The person can text you when packages are received and you can swing by on the way home to pick up.
Two words...signature confirmation
easy to catch in frisco, follow the poop tracks
San Francisco’s homeless are stealing the packages and going to stores like Target to get money for returning “unwanted merchandise.” The junkies are getting desperate.
Quick Delivery gets bigger all the time. The problem will get worse everywhere.
I remember the garbage strike in in NYC years ago. One person found the best way to get rid of his garbage was to place it in a box, wrapped as a present, leave it in his car seat with the windows rolled down and then walk around the block. When he returned the package of garbage was always gone.
Porch pirates are legion.
Pennsylvania State Police Troop J just issued a press release about this crime wave hitting rural Chester County, PA.
This is nothing new. I recall a coworker of the 80’s that came from a bad part of NYC where anything left out would be stolen. So he put some human manure in a brown paper sack, put it on the front porch, & it was stolen in no time.
He said it with such seriousness I actually believed him.
Rent a post office box!
My local post office, after I fill out a short form, will allow me to use their street address as my own and they will accept packages for me from UPS, FedEx, etc.
I’m happy too have my new “Nest Doorbell” which keeps an eye on the front porch 24 hours, 365 days a year ... on video. I’m also a big proponent of other Nest products.
