“Oceania has always been at war with Eurasia.”
I thought it was East Asia, but memory plays tricks on us sometimes. We live in a bizarro time when the deceivers cite stories like ‘1984’ to argue why we should trust them.
Just this week we’ve got a known perjurer telling the media (and thus, us) that “facts are stubborn things”. I hope that the Clintons and the rest of the left remember that Comey’s butt-covering efforts were enough to tip the scale against Hillary. Doesn’t matter that a million other paper cuts cost her the White House, Comey should face her wrath. We know we can never count on the Republicans to mete out any justice.
I did too; but to be sure I googled.
Something came up that said Eurasia and I just grabbed it.
At the start of the book, Oceania is at war with Eurasia. They have always been at war with Eurasia. That's the political consensus, and all historic documents agree. However, Winston Smith (the protagonist) remembers a time five years ago when Oceania was instead at war with Eastasia.
