In a sane world, it is true that impeachment would be seen as a grotesque overreach, but I never underestimate the ability of republicans to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. No doubt in my mind that for every GOP never-trumper who has come out and been identified, there are 4-5 hiding under a rock who would pile on when the SHTF.
Even republicans could see that going against your own president is a losing proposition.
