List of dog food brands included. Most are chicken and rice, or some variant.
This has nothing to do with the massive Brazilian hamburger recall.

We give our shih tzu Maxie Nutro wet food thankfully NOT on the recall list. He loves his wet food, well he loves all food LOL

No Purina, good.
FYI, I wouldn’t think that Vitamin D toxicity would be as much of a problem now, in the very late Fall, given that the dogs (like us) don’t get as much naturally with the shorter days and the angle of the Sun. I think that the problem would be worse if it happened in the Summer.

I try to give mine 1/3 wet, 1/3 dry and 1/3 canned vegetables.
Doesn’t work like that every day. Some days are 25% dry or so; some days are closer to 33%.

[Hmm, how many are Made in China?]
In this case, unlikely. Where problems arise, Chinese contractors are noted for leaving stuff out or substituting inferior products. Vitamin D is added in. If it were a Chinese issue, there would be a deficiency of Vitamin D, not a surplus. Paul Midler, who wrote “Poorly Made in China”, said “you get what you pay for”, the corollary of which is “you never get what you don’t pay for”.

Thanks for the info. I would hate to lose a dog do to this. Lost a dog not to long ago to a mystery ailment (maybe tick related) and I don’t want to go through it again any time soon.

Out of curiosity, what’s your medical expense threshold for putting Fido to sleep? I ask because I know of someone who spent over 4 grand on a single cat.

ALL Purina formulas have menadione which has been banned by the FDA for human use and only available by importing from China.
Causes liver and blood cell damage.
FYI.

We do too. Big $$$ but it’s the first dry food that gives them zero digestion problems. Use the Fit and Trim.

We don’t do that, I won’t make a pet suffer for my own vanity. We pursued the cause for about three weeks and i slept on the floor with the dog to make sure she had some comfort. In the end no cause was forthcoming, a great dog was gone at only 8 years old.

“Veterinarians should also be aware that vitamin D toxicity may present as hypercalcemia, similar to dogs that have consumed rodenticide.” The main ingredient in some mice/rat poisons. Given extensively to moron patients by doctors in the USA. Otherwise known as Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol)....
I had my own little experience with hypercalcemia. This S*it should be sporting a skull and crossbones. it is poison.

Yikes- the articles states some of these foods had 70 times more vitamin D than they should. 70 TIMES!!
I feed my corgi I and Love and You dry food. It has 5 star rating at Dog Food Advisor and she thrives on it. I’ve tried several of the brands they rate highly but we’ve settled on this one.
