New York (CNN Business)The fate of The Weekly Standard, the conservative magazine that has staked out a position as a publication on the right still critical of President Donald Trump, is uncertain, Editor-in-Chief Stephen Hayes told staff in a series of phone calls Tuesday, according to two people familiar with the matter.
The magazine's precarious position comes after its leadership spent months searching for a buyer, the people told CNN.
The people explained that The Weekly Standard's leadership had butted heads with MediaDC, the current parent company of the magazine, and that the two parties had agreed to allow Hayes to search for a new owner.
However, MediaDC recently informed The Weekly Standard's leadership that the company was no longer interested in a sale, the people said.

All I have to say is: Hahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.
What’s a magazeen?
While there were always some good things to read in WS, the overtly political stuff tuned to today’s politics always carried the taint of NeoCon Bill Kristol.
I guess Bill Kristol is starting to have regrets about being a never Trumper about now.
They are learning the impossible-to-put-off-much-longer lesson that the Dem Party,CNN and MSNBC are also learning-—you can’t grow your audience/constituencies by being not much of anything else except AGAINST TRUMP, and at least half the American people.
Way back in the early ‘90s I got a subscription, so happy until I read it. Lukewarm and uninformative. Canceled the subscription.
Very likely and brilliant scenario for the Weekly Standard. Bet it happens, when you peel back the onion, and follow the money.
Every time he open his face I wanna grab his neck and just squeeze.
I have been watching and painfully listening to this FOX fixture Juan Williams, and I still can’t figure out what could be wrong with his brain. He MAKES NO SENSE EVER.
I don’t know, just thinking out loud, perhaps Billy ate all the profits?
Good riddance. More like a NEO-conservative rag than a conservative one.
Maybe they ought to cut back on the boat rides.
Sell it for $1 like Newsweak.
Maybe Fox can take a lesson from this? The base of viewers has no appetite for fake conservatives.
Which Goldberg?
“”Now if only Fox would drop Goldberg and Id be happy.””
When does he appear? I haven’t seen him since O’Reilly was taken off FOX.....
Even the brand is mud. Liquidate, best you can do with the smouldering remains of a dumpster fire.
Great news.
Up your Bill Krystol.
Hays will pop up somewhere to spout his moldy ideas and strategies for five times the money he serves.
These guys are like washed-up baseball managers. There’s always another place where they can lose a few more.
