W.C. Fields had an expression: as soft as a titmouse backing into a pussy willow. How about “as soft as a snowflake falling on an eggshell”?
Toxic workplace achieved, business closes within a year.
Justin Timberlake. Men like you are not supposed to notice. :)
If men avoid working or traveling with women alone, or stop mentoring women for fear of being accused of sexual harassment, those men are going to back out of a sexual harassment complaint and right into a sex discrimination complaint.
I’m so glad I was a young ‘career’ woman during the 80’s. I had many AWESOME mentors; male and female. No one EVER tried any ‘funny stuff,’ and all were genuinely concerned that I advance in my career; many trained me to eventually take their jobs.
All were professional beyond imagining, and most are still good friends to this day.
I, in turn, did as much as I could for those coming up after me. Again, same results and life-long friendships formed.
It’s such a shame that a normal, productive working relationship/environment has gone the way of the Dodo Bird. :(
Angie Dickinson “ I dress for women. I undress for men.”
Harder for women? How? They find it harder to threaten men with sexual harassment? They wanted to be "one of the guys" and found they didn't like it? They wanted this. They got it.
Glad I married a real woman 27 years ago.
Yes isn’t that something. The woman have fought to be leaders within companies and because of this, they will be isolated and ignored.
They want to the world to believe that any man is a potential predator where in actuality, now any woman is a potential career ender.
“Just who are they trying to impress...other women?”
YES!!
It’s a pecking order. The most attractive wield the most power over men. The least attractive yield the least.
That power translates over other women, because self-esteem for women is such a delicate butterfly. So easy to disrupt.
They are NOT dressing to impress men, they are dressing to CONTROL men, and by transitivity, other women.
In the end, they’re idiots. Pretty much all of them. There are the few that ruin it for the many, and the many who don’t actively hammer the $hit out of the few who do.
My ex, in a moment of candor, told me, “The whole department is female. The estrogen poisoning is real. I’d give anything to have just one guy join the department to partially balance this out. Hate managing women!”
Stupid, short-sighted, narcissistic, under-qualified, and largely bereft of real leadership skills, AS A GROUP.
There are pockets of them who are amazing, unbelievable, courageous, smart, and tough as nails while losing nothing that makes them inherently and inimitably female. I’ve been lucky enough to work for a few.
Saying that, men have spit the bit. Women have created an impossible position - avoid any opportunity to flush your entire career and livelihood down the toilet by ensuring every interaction with women is as emotionally sterile as possible, or back yourself into a sex discrimination suit?
There isn’t even one square foot of tenable middle ground for a guy to camp on there.
This is going to get way, way worse until women everywhere have pounded the loud, crazy, social justice warriors into a paste and lit them on fire.
ONLY WOMEN CAN SOLVE THIS PROBLEM. I guess we’ll see what kind of leaders they are. So far, aside from the exceptions that prove the rule, women have proved to be as corruptible, unprincipled, and as greedy as men ever were. They told us all if they were in charge it would be different.
In today’s environment, there would be zero one-on-one meetings with ANYONE. Period. If management, I would request HR to have a person in for every management review, etc. No mentoring, nothing. Just get the work done.
Yes, advancement would suffer, but that is the consequence of false charges against managers, etc.
One more irony:
In the article, these courageous women leaders WANT MEN TO FIX THE PROBLEM FOR THEM!!!
Isn’t the point of all of this is that they want ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY for their end of the issue?
And when they utter such illogical, stupid things and someone calls them on it, how do they react?
Sorry but Real Men don’t walk on Egg Shells when it comes to approaching Real Women. But there is the Rub, you can’t tell who is a woman or man anymore with these They millennials:-)
We did step up and got our asses handed to us. So if you want me to mentor a woman, fine, show me the no terminate clause in my contract. Show me the no retaliation clause in my contract. Show me the $50,000,000 personal liability policy. None of those... then fagetaboutit. Most of the time I keep to myself as I'm busy. But I'd talk to anyone about anything they wanted to, within reason. Not any more.
“they are dressing to CONTROL men”
But you don’t control diabetics by putting a candy dish in front of them.
These have been my policies, strictly adhered, for my entire professional career.
I am baffled that anyone thought the other behaviors were OK.
And it was barely a moral judgement.
It was predominantly self preservation.
40 years and counting.
It’s not the most apt metaphor.
They don’t need to promise a man anything to control them. Hormones in men do that for them. Women get pretty skilled at subtle manipulation in order to get what they want.
There’s a great scene in The Departed:
Matt Damon’s character walks out of Captain Queenan’s office after Queenan greets him, as is his custom with all the new State Troopers. Leonard Dicaprio’s character is waiting in the office outside to be seen.
The secretary folds her arms under her breasts and leans completely forward as Damon is walking into the outer office to give Damon a shot at her cleavage, which isn’t even ample. She says, “Congratulations!”, to which he replies, “Thanks hon.” He gets what she’s doing and plays it off while acknowledging it.
As soon as he leaves, she straightens up, and without looking at Dicaprio says, “You can go in there now.”
It is a CLASSIC scene. Many don’t even pick it up, but it is precisely what we’re talking about here.
Important to note: MANY Americans, and most women, think this is a good idea.

Unfortunately, we have all been driven to a point where one must be a mind-stapled automaton at work.
Not so difficult for me, as I am a freelancer and learned long ago that I have no friends in the workplace
It all assigned favored status minority groups...power tripping..trying to get you to lose your job or deprive others from advancing.
Lib lawyers and judges back up this nonsense up
..And companies even if they know its nonsense have to pretend to take it seriously.
They don’t need a law suit.
In reality people who abuse the system are smarmy petty cowards and or pathetic.
