Sahand destroyer -- which can sustain voyages lasting five months without resupply -- joined Iran's regular navy at a base in Bandar Abbas on the Gulf.
The Sahand has a flight deck for helicopters, torpedo launchers, anti-aircraft and anti-ship guns, surface-to-surface and surface-to-air missiles and electronic warfare capabilities, state television reported.
"This vessel is the result of daring and creative design relying on the local technical knowledge of the Iranian Navy... and has been built with stealth capabilities," Rear-Admiral Alireza Sheikhi, head of the navy shipyards that built the destroyer, told the state news agency IRNA.
Iran launched its first locally made destroyer in 2010 as part of a programme to revamp its navy equipment which dates from before the 1979 Islamic revolution and is mostly US-made.
Iran has developed a large domestic arms industry in the face of international sanctions and embargoes that have barred it from importing many weapons. Separately, a naval commander said Sahand may be among warships that Iran plans to send on a mission to Venezuela soon.

Agreed! (I was just trying to reach a certain character limit on my response.:-) Lol!
... is made of balsa wood, and can be sunk with a casual shot from a Wrist Rocket.
It doesn't look particularly stealthy.
and has been built with stealth capabilities
We should order a LA class sub to sink it on its voyage to Venezuela as a payback for 23 Oct 1983, and then the account is settled.
Be ashamed if a meteorite struck it in the Atlantic....
The US should put a stealth torpedo in it and slip away into the depths of the ocean. The Mullahs would get the message.
Better equipped than an LCS. More effective gun than a modern US destroyer. (As a reminder: the Zumwalt is equipped with a pair of nice gun for which no ammunition exists, so it’s easily outgunned by the Iranian 3”).
The one you are reading about was sunk by the US navy in 1988. This is the replacement. At least scan down the Wikipedia link that you find.
I’ll see your Wikipedia link and raise with the right one.

“...which can sustain voyages lasting five months without resupply...”
Only if it doesn’t get sunk, which I think would be in the first round of shooting if a war broke out.
Especially not with that phased-array banging away.
It looks like an ocean going version of an Iranian assault vehicle otherwise known as a 1983 Toyota mini truck with a .50 cal machine gun mounted in the back. Primitive.
Oh goody. Another target.
That is INCREDIBLY stealthy.
Once it is on the ocean floor, no one will see it.
It looks like a WWII era frigate with a new phased array stuck on top.
