Why the heck is it so dark there?

I’m in LA and it’s 12:40-something ... and it’s full sunshine out. Why is it dark?

“Land of the Midnight Sun” in summer.

In winter they have nights that are just as long as the summer days.

It’s way up high. They get maybe six hours of light a day. Sun sort of peaks up over the mountains, says hello, and then goes back down.
