It would be doable, but would it be wise?
Researchers say theyve looked into how hard it would be to spray chemicals into the atmosphere to block the sun and curb global warming and it would be neither technically difficult nor too expensive.
The researchers, in a new study, did not make any judgments about whether it should be done, but they did show that a hypothetical deployment program starting 15 years from now, while both highly uncertain and ambitious, would be technically possible strictly from an engineering perspective, said Gernot Wagner, research associate at Harvards School of Engineering and Applied Sciences and codirector of Harvards Solar Geoengineering Research Program.
The researchers envisioned a fleet of just under 100 tankers flying just over 60,000 missions a year by the 15th year of the project.
Not everyone thinks such solar geoengineering is a good idea.

I got a better idea. How about we just launch Gernot Wagner’s big head into space and position it between the Earth and Sun?
This is a ‘solution’ that would quickly become quite political and thus problematical and thus impractical. The researchers say it is doable, OK, then think about how many countries would need to sign-off on using THEIR airspace? (Hint: Everybody except, perhaps, Vatican City!)
Then take the inevitable arguments on density of spray by expected solar heating by given latitudes as adjusted by normal climate conditions (Gulf Stream warming of Europe etc.) Who decides and who accepts?
Next add in NORMAL weather events like tornados, Typhoons and Blizzards. Want to bet that there would not be a plethora of complaints about how this ARTIFICIAL action makes these worse and then come lawsuits and more extreme reactions?
How quickly would everybody decide that maybe doable is not a good idea? Consider a prime tenet of the ancient but very valid Hippocratic Oath; “To do no Harm”!
FYI: I haven’t even started on the Murphy’s Law side of things AND the Law of Unintended Consequences. Joy abounds at the thought!
Basically the plot of “Snowpiercer” and NO, I do NOT suggest you see that movie.
Just maybe the sun is now dimming itself as it enters a Maunder Minimum that could be the start of a mini Ice Age. Perhaps these whiz kids should think of ways of increasing CO2 in the atmosphere to hold in what feeble heat from the sun we may be getting in the near future.
These scientists and their big government puppet masters have to know we are entering a mini ice age. They want to put some hairbrained scheme out there that wont do anything, get paid a ton of money, and then claim credit when the planet cools on its own. Better yet for them, if their scheme does do something and makes the cooling worse, they will have another crisis to exploit for money and power. Just more facets of their scam.
Instead of doing such a hair-brained idea, just resettle people along the Canadian border. I assure you, Minnesota has plenty of land and abundant cold weather!
If these bastards do this, it will be the most monstrous crime in human history. Tens of millions will die. “The fourth angel sounded his trumpet, and a third of the sun was struck, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of them turned dark. A third of the day was without light, and also a third of the night. As I watched, I heard an eagle that was flying in midair call out in a loud voice: Woe! Woe! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth*÷, because of the trumpet blasts about to be sounded by the other angels!” Revelation 8:12-13
And what would be the corrective action starting at year 12 if/when the assumptions used in this study prove to be false?
A replay on a massive level of the “World will Freeze (aka Global Cooling)”; The “World will dry up (aka Global Heating)” hysteria we have read about for the last 48 years (aka Earth Day # 1)?
Or, is it like all too many “scientific” studies an all or nothing project. Either it succeeds and we change the sun’s output? Increase and we burn. Decrease and we freeze.
Don’t think much of either option.
I wish other things for these “foolz”..but don’t want to be banned
His name is usually spelled Lex Luthor. (We mad comic book scientists like to stick together.)
Heyyyy Al Gore the Harvard grad got a Nobel Peace Prize for his propaganda work!!! STEM is so over-rated..... /s
I had the comic book where that happened. My mother threw it away. I wonder what it’s worth today?
Idiots.

Use of environmental modification techniques for hostile purposes does not play a major role in military planning at the present time. Such techniques might be developed in the future, however, and would pose a threat of serious damage unless action was taken to prohibit their use. In July 1972 the U.S. Government renounced the use of climate modification techniques for hostile purposes, even if their development were proved to be feasible in the future.
Now who is to say what is hostile and what isn't. Spraying chemicals into the atmosphere, which isn't static, could be viewed as a hostile action. As others here have pointed out, unintended consequences could wreak havoc in countries; such as no rain, too much rain, torrential storms, changing wind patterns, which could lead to war. Nothing like a good war to thin the global herd and reduce future affects on global climate change.
THAT is man made climate change.
Quick, hide all the sharp objects!
Hmm, so you block some sunlight from striking the earth’s surface, ok. However that energy from the sun doesn’t magically disappear. Unless you have somehow created a higher albedo for the atmosphere so that the sunlight reflects back into space, the energy is just getting absorbed in the atmosphere, meaning that the temperature of the air is rising even if the surface temperature is not.
“Researchers say theyve looked into how hard it would be to” JUSTIFY THEIR MISERABLE EXISTENCE AND GET ANOTHER GOVERNMENT GRANT!
Just wait for the increased volcanic activity that typically occurs during low active solar cycles. Can explain how that happens, but why bother.
