Brenda Snipes, the elections supervisor for Broward County, Fla., who resigned after coming under scrutiny for the way her office handled vote counting during the Nov. 6 election, will receive nearly $130,000 in annual pensions once she leaves office in January, according to reports.
Snipes, 75, already receives a pension of more than $58,000 from her time as an educator and is poised to collect another $71,000 for 15 years as an elected official, the Sun-Sentinel reported.
"Although I have enjoyed this work tremendously over these many election cycles, both large and small, I am ready to pass the torch," Snipes wrote in her resignation letter to Republican Gov. Rick Scott. "Therefore, I request that you accept my letter of resignation effective January 4, 2019."
Her resignation came amid heavy criticism for her offices handling of the recount of a Senate race between incumbent Democratic U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson and Scott, who was declared the winner. (Scott was not allowed to seek re-election as governor because of the state's term-limit laws.)
Broward County failed to turn in the recount results by the states deadline, lost thousands of ballots and opened 205 provisional early-voting ballots before their validity was determined.
It really raises the question, on top of everything else, why shes being excessively compensated for doing a poor job. Thats the added insult to injury, said Dominic Calabro, president and CEO of Florida TaxWatch, a nonprofit, nonpartisan government watchdog group based in Tallahassee.

Remember that Lois Lerner is still laughing at you with her $106,200 annual pension.
How many FReepers have made this kind of money working a full time job?
130 is a good number. For a prison sentence.
Government parasites——Snipes and Lerner——just the tip of the iceberg
Government jobs exist to reward the incompetent.
She’s passing the torch after she used it to burn down the building.
This will be a good test for the new governor who campaigned on being a tough guy.
He can either nail her for all the obvious cheating she has done for many years or he can rollover and let it happen again and again.
President Trump will not win re-election without Florida. He needs to get it fixed now or there will be no more Republicans elected in that state.
Florida voters are stupid to reward incompetent government employees such as Snipes such outrageous retirement benefits. It only encourages more incompetents to get into this racket.
The biggest crime of all...
Putting Snipes aside because she is state & county.
However Lerner is what you get when you don’t rigorously enforce the Hatch Act. Republicans administrations pretend to, Rat administrations “Hatch Act? What’s a Hatch Act?”. Lerner had federal jobs that were directly involved with the political process. Prior to her IRS gig (granting exempt status to “political fund raising organizations”) she was a FEC bureaucrat where she was notoriously partisan! If she had been fired there or even reprimanded she might have thought twice before she did her IRS shenanigans.
This is wrong on so many levels.
If she’s in prison, can she still collect? I’m thinking DeSantis and Bondi need to have a meeting and decide how to prosecute this lowest form of humanity. If she skates as so many others have (Clinton[s], Lerner, etc.) it’ll be a travesty; she has disenfranchised thousands of voters over the years and that can’t stand.
Not a dime for me.
corruption and Marxist redistribution to the Party loyalists
Wow, that is some amazing pension. This underlines the severe difference between private business pensions and bloated govt pensions. Send her to prison and take away her govt pension.
Isn’t America wonderful?
Where else can you work for the government, be incompetent and corrupt, and at the end of the day collect a fat pension?
And by the way, did I fail to mention the tax payer slobs are footing the bill for these government pension plans that will eventually bankrupt our county.
Note to DeSantis: Appoint an ass-kicker. And don’t go all PC when you do, like Boosh and Scott did.
I think this is what really angers most thinking working folks. Many(probably MOST)working folks don’t get any kind of good pension if they even get one at all & they may have done a good job to the best of their abilities their whole life. Then we see some of these “public servants” who come along & spend a good part of their lives feathering their nests & lying to the public & they retire WITH a pretty good,or maybe even great pension. It makes the average working person look like a fool & most of the time there seems to be no recourse against these cheats.
“””Florida voters are stupid to reward incompetent government employees such as Snipes such outrageous retirement benefits”””
Just a ‘minor’ correction to what you wrote.
Namely, ‘voters in most states’ are stupid to reward incompetent government employees such as Snipes such outrageous retirement benefits.
Government workers are the largest lobby group in America and they are bankrupting us.
at the least, in the end, she and others like her misusing their power and position among other wrongs, will each have to stand before Jesus and have to answer to Him.
I was on a citizens’ budget review board for a major city in Florida for several years. Every time we criticized them for compensation issues their response was, “But we have to compete with the private sector!” The fact was that in almost every case their comp far out-stripped the private sector when benefits and pensions were accounted for, for similar jobs.
“”Note to DeSantis: Appoint an ass-kicker. And dont go all PC when you do, like Boosh and Scott did.””
Actually, DeSantis can have our current Lt Gov do the dirty work.
Rick Scott retires Jan 3 to be US Senator.
Lt Gov becomes Gov until DeSantis becomes Gov on Jan 8.
