Total violation of the First Amendment of the US Constitution.
This will be struck down.
Congress didn’t make the law.....
There are hundreds of such cities now, perhaps thousands.
That is illegal unconstitutional and wrong. Why not mosques???????

The Bible believing churches that have chosen to be fence sitters have gotten us into this mess. And you know what Jesus said about that!
Paging Gov. Abbott....
How would this work: whenever a congregation calls a pastor, or a bishop makes an appointment, will an Austin Human Rights Commissar sit in on the proceedings and approve the choice?
They can just refuse to hire them due to “lack of experience”, or “poor fit for the role” - like big companies do. No need to state the real reason.

You can bet that this won’t apply to the Black churches.
I’m seeing an awful lot of responses thinking churches will be protected by the Constitution. Wrong. Communist Russia had freedom of religion in its Constitution. The Constitution is no better than the courts that rule on it. Try buying your favorite gun in California.
Um, yeah it is clear cut under “incorporation” doctrine. First Amendment applies to all “state actors” including cities.
...uh, where’s the church and state separation on this issue?
