Attendance woes for NASCAR began immediately following Brian France opening his mouth about redneck fans. They didn’t begin with minority outreach. I’m familiar with two programs at historically black universities in North Carolina that were working closely with NASCAR well before then.

Try as you might to paint the sport racist, that is not the problem. The problem is corporate disdain for their own fan base, and that fan base took note. They voted with their feet, and as a result the sport is a shadow of it’s former self. And, we’re witnessing the same behavior with pro football.

It’s very interesting and odd for a FReeper to be championing such things, and calling anyone redneck, though. In what way are you conservative, bigdaddy45? Are you sure you belong here, or are you merely trolling?

I’m sorry. I didn’t realize I was dealing with someone with reading comprehension problems. I never said NASCAR was racist. Quite the opposite. In addition, you seem to think the word redneck is a slur. I don’t. I have many proud self-proclaimed rednecks in my family, and God bless ‘em.

NASCAR has gone down the toilet because it’s gotten boring. Just read the responses on this thread. Fans root for drivers and cars. The drivers used to have personality. Now they’re just a bunch of bland corporate pretty boys. The car is used to be differentiated. You had the Ford versus Chevy crowd. Now, I can’t tell one car from another.

Fans couldn’t care less what Brian Francis has said. By the way, he also publicly endorsed Donald Trump.
