Ever since Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez shocked the world by upsetting long-time Democratic Rep Joe Crowley in New York's 14th congressional district last summer, the self-proclaimed Democratic Socialist has been the gift that keeps on giving - to conservative reporters and commentators.
Thats because just about everything that comes out of the young congresswoman-elects mouth is either patently untrue, ridiculously unworkable, unintentionally hilarious, or ripped straight from the pages of Das Kapital (in which case its all of the above).
This 29-year-old architects daughter and Boston University cum laude grad - who has managed to make a political career out of portraying herself as some sort of working-class hero - may not know anything about economics, as Fox News host Jesse Watters noted this summer, but she does know how to turn reality upside down with literally every attempt at policy discussion that crosses her lips.
So, without further ado and in no particular order, here are seven of the craziest things Congresswoman-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has said thus far in her young political career.
Too Many Of Those Evil White Males Oppose Nancy Pelosi, Otherwise Maybe Id Be In
"I mean, if anything, I think that what it does is that it creates a window where we could potentially get more conservative leadership, Ocasio-Cortez told MSNBCs Chris Hayes just last week, referring to a letter opposing Pelosis leadership signed by 16 Democrats, far too many of whom sadly share the wrong gender and skin color.
And when you actually look at the signatories, it is not necessarily reflective of the diversity of the party, she continued. We have about 16 signatories, 14 of them are male. There are very few people of color in the caucus. Theres very few ideological diversity. Its not like there are Progressives that are signing on. Its not like you have a broad-based coalition. So I find it you know, Im not totally bought into the concept.
Unless you play Identity Politics like todays liberals do, the above statement will seem absurd. But in Ocasio-Cortezs world, buying into a concept apparently has more to do with the race and skin color of the adherents than the merits of the concept itself.
Electing Democrats Is Basically Ending Slavery
I learned that Kansas was founded over the struggle of the conscience of this nation, Ocasio-Cortez told a Wichita, Kansas crowd in July while campaigning for Democrats. It was when we were deciding who we wanted to be as a country. It was when we were deciding who we wanted to be with the Kansas-Nebraska Act. The people who were leading this nation said, You decide to the people. Are we going to be a slave state or are we going to be a free state? And it was in 1861 that the people of Kansas decided that we were going to be a free nation. Back then, the people of Kansas were the tipping point for the future of this nation. Today, they are again.
I get it. History is hard. But does Ocasio-Cortez really want to bring up Democrats and slavery? Really?
Defeating Global Warming Is Pretty Much Like When The Allies Defeated Nazi Germany, Or Something
So, when we talk about existential threats, Ocasio Cortez said during an October campaign rally, the last time we had a really major existential threat in this country was around World War II. So, weve been here before, and we have a blueprint of what we did before. None of these things are new ideas. What we had was an existential threat in the context of a war, and what we did was that we chose to mobilize and industrialize our entire economy and we put hundreds of thousands if not millions of people to work in defending our shores and defending this country.
I think the real question is, who DOESNT think of the Allied victory over the Nazis when they think of ways to deal with global warming?
If Climate Change Isnt Addressed, People Are Gonna Like, Die And Stuff
People are going to die if we dont start addressing climate change ASAP, Ocasio-Cortez tweeted last week. Its not enough to think its important. We must make it urgent. Thats why we need a Select Committee on a Green New Deal, & why fossil fuel-funded officials shouldnt be writing climate change policy.
Thats right, unless the United States and other industrialized nations (but really, just the United States) gives up the modern technology that has allowed us to expand the average lifespan by decades over the last century, people are going to die.
Therapy For Snowflakes
Well, you know, in this political moment, its so unique and sometimes I feel like I have this job of being something of a social worker or even a therapist in my district because this period has been so re-traumatizing for so many folks and especially in a country where we do not have reliable access to health care, let alone affordable health care, Ocasio-Cortez told Chris Hayes last month. This has been a very difficult time for immigrants, women, survivors, people who care about the health of American democracy. Its very stressful.
Poor wittle snowflakes So stressful Thankfully, they elected both a representative AND a snowflake-therapist to help with all the traumatizing caused by that orange meanie in the White House.
D.C. Apartments Are Like, SOOO Expensive
I have three months without a salary before Im a member of Congress, so how do I get an apartment? Ocasio-Cortez asked The New York Times earlier this month. Those little things are very real.
To be sure, nothing says working class like becoming an international celebrity while winning a race for a $176,000 per year job, then poor mouthing about not being able to afford an apartment only to have the media reveal that you were probably lying about it. But some ordinary non-socialist-type working folks might be a bit put off by the whole thing. Put it this way - GOP Rep Sean Duffy was out of work for 8 months and had 6 kids before coming to Congress in 2011, but you didnt read about his struggle because he didnt whine (or lie) about it to the New York Times.
Lets Flip This Seat Red In November
Were gonna flip this seat red in November, Ocasio-Cortez said in July during a rally for a Kansas Democratic Congressional candidate. Honest mistake or Freudian slip, as in Communist Red? Probably the former, but given that were talking about a bona-fide socialist, the irony is just too good to pass up.
There you have it, seven of the craziest things Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has said so far. Now that she is firmly entrenched among the ranks of the highest profile elected Democrats, you can bet there will be plenty more where those came from.
Only seven?!
Socialists are phonies, and Occasional-Cortex is Exhibit #1.
In mid-2015, many people thought Trump's candidacy was a joke...Jeb! was a shoe-in.
Now, I'm not arguing that she's a powerhouse orator or that she will easily topple the Dem Establishment.
But remember that Trump won by about 60,000 votes, i.e. the margin of victory collectively in MI, WI, and PA...it doesn't take much nowadays. Further, many Dems won by questionably small margins in 2018. From a historical perspective, consider how the hippie baby boomers hurt freedom and liberty, the extent of which was likely NOT at the forefront of people's minds when hearing about Woodstock. Finally, the DNC has the media and Antifa working for them.
As such, I will NOT disregard the potential for a greater leftward lurch she may cause in the Dems (as if that was possible) AND the attendant damage someone's like her could wreak on America. It may not require a tsunami of public support for this freshman to become a horror for Normal People.
Why does this unaccomplished woman get so much press. She is one of 400 plus in Congress, a back bencher with little power and fewer brain cells than most there and the media cannot stop talking about her. Kind of like stopping in your tracks on the sidewalk to study a dog turd.
I dont know about the rest of you, but Im really tired of all the press time that this Marxist nimrod receives. Im tired of seeing her horse teeth sticking out. Im tired of seeing her ugly face. Im tired of even conservative columnists calling her attractive.
On actual facts and reality she is clueless, but she apparently understands the political process well enough. She managed to get elected. She managed to show Pellosi enough opposition to get bribed with the promise of committee goodies. Her reading of the greedy entitled voters in her district was clear enough to get her on the taxpayer funded gravy train thats the DC establishment. Etc. We call her stupid, but I suspect that shes saying exactly what the jackasses who voted for her want to hear
________
Who DOES think like that?
Ive been waiting in the hall
Been waiting on your call
When the phone rings
Its just some friends of mine that say,
Hey, whats the matter man?
Were gonna come around at twelve
With some puerto rican girls that are just dyin to meet you.
Were gonna bring a case of wine
Hey, lets go mess and fool around
You know, like we used to
The extended 12” disco version has this line:
You know, sometimes I feel aBANdoned, whoo, by ya
As only Mick could sing it.

“Kind of like stopping in your tracks on the sidewalk to study a dog turd.”
But isn’t that the same reaction that you get from being near most of those in the Congress, including most of the Republicans. Cause they’re nearly all like dog $hit on a sidewalk now aren’t they!
Grooming her for the presidency. No sarcasm
Her sayings should be collected and placed in “Ocasio’s Little Green Book.” Like Mao’s Red Book. Idiocy in the hand.
I anticipate that over the next couple of years she is going to be entertaining - in a sad, shake you head a sigh kind of way. She is also going to be used and manipulated by both sides of the aisle. She won't actually do anything meaningful in DC. Whenever the 'rats need a distraction or some publicity, they'll attach her to some issue. Whenever the GOP needs to highlight the idiocy on and of the left, they'll associate her with that issue. She's not going to be a legislator, she's going to be an expensive prop used by both sides.
Claims she made a 40-minute commute from the Bronx for better school as kid
But her architect father bought house in wealthy Westchester County in 1991
But her architect father bought house in wealthy Westchester County in 1991
Ocasio-Cortez went on to attend Boston University and interned for Ted Kennedy

When God asked her if she wanted a cortex she thought he said Kotex and told God she did not use them.
The exact same reason a singularly unaccomplished junior senator from Chicago did.
Be afraid. Be very afraid.
“It was when we were deciding who we wanted to be as a country. It was when we were deciding who we wanted to be with the Kansas-Nebraska Act”
No one in her family was here. Mine were already there in Kansas and Nebraska. Abolitionists who left the South for the Free States.
We need lectures on our history from some Spaniard whose ancestors were our sworn enemies?
That's what I thought about Obama too. I thought people could see right through Obama. I gave them too much credit.
It's not about what is best for the country. It's about initiating a mania/fad/craze to overwhelm people's common sense.
It's like electing a dog to be mayor of a city.
