The federal government’s Fourth National Climate Assessment, released on Friday, has gained praise from leftists and left-wing environmental groups as a dire warning of the coming death and destruction in the United States if we don’t stop global warming.
But critics of the report, including scientists, have slammed it as “exaggeration,” bad science and even said its conclusions are “false.”
“This latest climate report is just more of the same – except for even greater exaggeration, worse science, and added interference in the political process by unelected, self-serving bureaucrats,” Tim Huelskamp, president of the Heartland Institute said in statements released by the free-market think tank following the report’s release.
“With a new volume out in December, The Heartland Institute has published 4,000 pages of the Climate Change Reconsidered series by the Nongovernmental International Panel on Climate Change (NIPCC), Huelskamp said. “Those reports cite many hundreds of peer-reviewed scientific papers that show how every conclusion of this latest government report [is] false.”
“This report from the climate alarmist Deep State in our government is even more hysterical than some United Nations reports,” Huelskamp noted. “The idea that global temperatures could rise as much as 12 degrees in the next 80 years is absurd and not a shred of actual data and observation supports that.”
“This report is a scientific embarrassment,” Jay Lehr, science director at the Heartland Institute, said. “Not only does it rely on computer models to predict the climate through the end of the century, it relies on computer models from five years ago that have been laughably wrong, failing to get even close to reality since 2013.”

Nothing to see ... ignore the Super Solar Minimum which will lower the Earth’s surface temperature by 4.5 watts, ignore that the Earth and Sun will be further apart for the next 400 years ... after all, ice is just another aspect of man-caused warming, right?

Amount of watts reaching the Earth’s surface and the Earth’s tilt and distance from the Sun determine the temperature; Earth’s gases have a magnifying or minimizing effect on the overall temperature (depending on the mix and percentages). The Sun also tilts and wobbles.
The surface wattage will be reduced by 4.5 to 6 watts while the Earth moves about 2 million miles (95-96,000,000) further from the Sun due to wobble and eccentricity of orbits. These two effects will make the Earth much cooler, perhaps approaching the Younger Dryas Period (the coldest recent period which followed the Ice Age. This situation will persist for about 350-400 years ...
Adding carbon to the atmosphere is useless and could cause more harm ... so a useless remedy.
The confusion was that you did not include the the unit surface area in your statement.
I presumed you all had read the post on FR about the Super Grand Solar minimum. Watts are an elementary unit of solar output sorry ...
The odd thing is that the corporate/govt forces arrayed in this fight seem to be preponderantly on the Warmist side.

Exactly. To say that the temperature of something decreases by a certain number of watts is as meaningless as saying that it decreases by a certain number of centimeters.
Some of us are scientists.
Some of us know a little science and love to learn more.
Some know little of science but want to understand the issues better.
Some of us say “it is settled science”. Those are the fake scientists, as any scientist or science knowledgeable knows that science is never settled - continually challenging science is science.
That’s a negative 4.5. And you are forgetting that the Sun and the Earth are going to be about 2 million miles further apart so a -4.5 becomes more important ... Lots of people have done the math - no one has gotten a different answer. Average Earth temp (as best we can tell) was 1.1 degrees cooler during the Little Ice Age ... this period will be colder by a lot. The wattage effects the temperature - its the Sun! The lower the wattage, the lower the temperature. The further from the Sun, the cooler the Temperature - its the Sun!
