MI6 chiefs are secretly battling Donald Trump to stop him publishing classified information linked to the Russian election meddling investigation.
The UK is warning that the US president would undermine intelligence gathering if he releases pages of an FBI application to wiretap one of his former campaign advisers.
However Trump allies are fighting back, demanding transparency and asking why Britain would oppose the move unless it had something to hide.

wouldn’t that be British meddling in our election? I’d like to see all foreign meddling made illegal. Whether it’s Israel, China, Mexico, Russia, or anyplace else. Anyone caught taking money from or accepting gifts from any foreign interest peddlers, should go straight to jail, do not pass go.

As a 72 year old guy who has closely observed American politics for over 55 years, I strangely sounded here to myself like the fine old character actor Sherriff in 'Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid'.
When Butch and Sundance came to see the Sherriff, feeling completely trapped and at the end of their string, they asked to make a deal. The grizzled old sherriff in the nicest way he could said,

I understand the sentiment, but get real. The United States has a great impact on countries all over the world. For now at least, we are still the big dog. To expect other countries to refrain from trying to influence what we do that affects them is hopeless. Each country will try to influence us because it is so strongly in their interests to do so, and this definitely includes our elections. It’s like political campaign spending and activities in general. Try to regulate one form of it, and it will find other forms instead, in a never ending arms race where the advantage is to the nimble innovators opening new breaches and not to the regulators patching yesterday’s holes. Rather than trying to make it illegal for other countries to follow their own national interests in trying to affect what we do, I would favor maximum sunshine on everybody’s efforts to shape us and manipulate us, both foreign and domestic. But “reporting requirements” are just another arena for arms races between regulators and regulation-evaders. In the end, it is up to individual voters to figure out as best they can what is going on. In other words, think for yourself and when considering the thoughts of others, let the buyer beware.

Been going for decades... now you have a front row seat to the game, via the internet. The Information age is shedding light on the game and its players for a while.

It's all been leaked. Mostly in the NY Times way back in 2016 and 2017 when they didn't expect that Halper and Mfisud and similar fat diumbasses were "spies" who had to be protected by MI6. The only thing missing now is full public understanding of the sordid deeds by our "allies" in Britain (see top right in infographic). The voters are mostly too busy to spend the time understanding this stuff. But enough will get the idea that Dems tried to undermine democracy, that we can oust them from the House in 2020.
