Russia is set to discuss this incident with the Turkish side, which is guarantor of the armed opposition's cessation of hostilities in the Idlib de-escalation zone.

Russian military experts in chemical protection arrived in the city of Aleppo hours after militants launched a chlorine attack on residential districts of the city, the Russian Defense Ministry's spokesman, Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov, told reporters on Sunday.

"Groups of specialists from units of nuclear, chemical and biological warfare protection deployed at observation posts in Syria urgently arrived to the area of the attack, carrying special equipment with them. They are working with the injured in hospitals, and monitor the environment in the area where toxic substances were used by militants," he said.

"According to initial information, confirmed among other things, by symptoms diagnosed in those affected, the projectiles launched at Aleppo were filled with chlorine", the Russian general added....

The Russian Defense Ministry spokesman said that, according to information obtained by the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the opposing sides in Syria, terrorist groups located in the Idlib de-escalation zone opened fire at northwestern districts of Aleppo at 21:50 Moscow time on Saturday......

IDK, but this quick response from Russia just makes me suspect them.
Not a simple place, Syria.

This pathetic attempt even by some on this board to pretend like there is a distinction between Sunni’s and Shiites, between Assad’s Baathists/Hezbollah and the “rebels” — is irritating. All of the above are awful. Putin is awful. And it’s sad that we can’t just leave without potentially regretting it down the line because the hole has already been dug so deep by years and years of prior failed policies in the region.

The Russian chemical units were already deployed in anticipation of the jihadists staging a false flag chemical attack.

The Russians said just hours ago that French experts had been helping the jihadist opposition to load chemical munitions into shells.

I ain’t claiming to ‘know’ otherwise.
But, still, nothing is simple in Syria.

At least 50 injured in Aleppo chemical attack: Syria state media (via Deutsche Welle)

A rebel attack on Aleppo has left dozens suffering of breathing problems and blurred vision, with a smell of gas reported over the city, according to Syrian media. Officials said all of the victims were civilians.

At least 50 people have been treated for symptoms including breathing difficulties and blurred vision in Aleppo, after rebels fired shells into two regions of the city.

Syrian officials and residents suspect the shells contained poisonous gas, with symptoms suggesting chlorine, according to medical official Haj Taha.

A doctor told Syrian state TV on Saturday that at least two people, including one child, were in critical condition.

Other reports indicate 1 death.

I do not believe the French are doing that. It is not a false flag. It is Turkey’s Jihadi’s doing what they do. Kill people for no reason except they can. Terrorists are like that.

Smoke em if ya got em.

” It is Turkey’s Jihadi’s doing what they do. “

That’s what I’m inclined to believe.
Still, as I said, nothing is simple in Syria.

Some nasty operators are operating and I don’t think it’s the Syrian government and their Iranian and Russian buddies doing this dirty chemical stuff.

I voted for President Trump and support him but I cringe when he tears into the Syrians, Russian , Iranians etc. over Syria.

It isn’t true or consistent with what Trump said before he got to the White House.

Well Russia was totally complicit in Efrin (Afrin).

I believe Syria did have chemical weapons. Use them? Not sure, but in dealing with ISIS they might have.

In my opinion Israeli’s had good intelligence about chem weapons stored in Syria and we took them out.

This conflict is shifting over time. Iran is not invincible.

Russia and US don’t want a direct conflict.

Turkey is nuts. Or at least Erdogan the Islamist is.

The world is sick of this killing and butchery.

ISIS is close to being eliminated.

US has stayed in support of the SDF and they should.

Assad? I’ll not comment about that.

If it’s not used as justification for a new chemical attack by the regime, I’ll think that’s just what went on.
But why blame the French? That’s not believable.

Nobody believes that Syria did this.

It was the Jihadi’s. (Nusra maybe, or Al Sham probably)

Russia had nothing to do with this except to treat victims.

French had nothing to do with it.

Hating Russia and Assad isn’t the answer. It only leads to the next “Bush War” like Afghanistan or Iraq.

That Turkish guy Erdogan sure is a wild card and his wild card could be playing here, I admit.

So why throw in the French angle? Makes the report look untrue doesn’t it?

IDK, trying to be rational in a n evil situation.
Horrid what is done in Syria, whatever one’s sympathies.

The photo of the three Russian soldiers (taken by TASS), looks like an old one. Notice the rust on the metal object and the rust/aging on the shell cartridge (not the projectile which would hold the gas).

Any one for “FAKE NEWS”? Who does Tass think it is, CNN?

Shifting blame.

French had nothing to do with it, unless some Jihadi’s hired civilian Frenchmen to load Chlorine.

It does not pass smell test.
