On the Basis of Sex, a feature film on the pioneering legal work of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, is due to roll out in theaters nationwide on Christmas Day. With Felicity Jones portrayal of Ginsburg as a hot, young ACLU lawyer, the canonization of Notorious RGB will be officially complete. The 85-year-old justices celebrity status as a badass feminist has never been higher. CNN, which earlier this year produced a Ginsburg documentary titled RBG, has declared her the face of the resistance against President Donald Trumps agenda, and a new Ginsburg biography was published in October to coincide with the 25th anniversary of her confirmation. A retail store opened recently in Washington DC, stocked almost exclusively with RBG merch: yoga mats, water bottles, T-shirts, action figures, magnets, and pins designed to look like Ginsburgs lace dissent collar. The store is called The Outrage.
But no amount of swag or hagiography can obscure the fact that, while Ginsburg is responsible for a great number of landmark legal decisions, her legacy may be sorely tarnished by one truly terrible one: refusing to retire when President Barack Obama could have named her replacement. That decision came into stark relief this month when Ginsburg fell and broke three ribsand half of the nation took a collective gasp. Women took to Twitter to offer the justice a rib.
Irin Carmon, co-author of Ginsburg fan-book The Notorious RBG, and who is as responsible as anyone else for the contemporary Cult of Ginsburg, encouraged devotees not to freak out. What this woman needs is a remedial course on constitutional law. She votes her politics on the bench and the law takes a back seat to the wishes of the DNC. She is the prime example of why Roberts is wrong when he intimates there are not political judges on the appellate level
“RBG expected Hillary, the historic first woman president, to nominate her replacement. All the polls said it was in the bag. Surprise!”
I’ve noticed over the years that the worst leaders (or employees) consider themselves irreplaceable. In reality, they have defined who they are based on what they do; or, rather, what their title is. They know in their hearts that if they retire, their reason for being will vanish and they will die. They have no outside interests. They don’t fish or sew or collect something.
Even if Hillary had become president, RBG would have attempted to remain on the bench until she dropped dead. I read somewhere that her cancer had reoccurred and she would retire in the spring. Frankly, if that was the case, why not retire now? Well, because when she retires she will have no further reason to live.
She has two children and at least 2 grandchildren.
There is definitely something out there on Roberts. The Democrats found it and got his vote on Obamacare. I suspect it has something to do with adoption of his kids.

And I for one, is darn glad there was that SURPRISE and hillary didn’t get elected. The LORD was surely kind to America.
