Cool! I think he spent his first few years there, but then grew up in East Milton (not the fancy area.) His family are all insane leftists... so he’s the black sheep.
I miss it up there at times, but still feel more at home down here in Florida. He doesn’t miss the NE at all. He’s gotten so used to wearing shorts year round.
But... our hearts both ache for Pizzeria Regina and most of the North End (and also, the good seafood, of which Florida has none.)
The good professor is professor of women's studies. She is a professional grievance monger.
LOL...I know East Milton well.
I lived for 16 years in Florida and loved it there. However, my Mom needed me, and I moved back north to take care of her, but now she’s passed on and I am stuck here.
MA may be a flaming liberal state, but at LEAST it’s not Broward County! Glad I left before the stuff hit the fan.
(I taught kids from the Parkland High School)
YIKES! Parkland High kids — that’s crazy. Did you know any of the ones that are speaking truth to power and ‘sticking it to the man?”
I grew up in South Florida, lived in Ft. Lauderdale from ‘71 to ‘76, then we moved up to Stuart, back when it was a beach paradise. Now, it’s like Broward melted and spread north. Concrete, strip malls, and housing developments everywhere...
“Going down?”
No...since I taught music, I had a slightly different caliber of student than the useless SJW type.
When one practices hours a day, one doesn’t have time for that nonsense!
It wasn’t the school (King’s College) that dealt out the punishment?
I would have thought the only authority that ISA would have would be to ban him from future conferences.
I’m surprised if belonging to ISA is a requirement for the professorship.
Well, perhaps belonging to ISA is a requirement for this British School.
And, if you thought political correctness has run amuck in campuses in the USA, well, we have nothing compared to the British lunacy.
Yet still, he hasn’t been fired, at least as far as I can tell. However, as he wrote, his appeal was denied, so who knows what action, if any, Kings College will take.
And banning him from conferences does affect his earning potential and professional credentials for sure. His reputation in academia is at peril.
Don’t take these nameless collegiate associations lightly. They have immense power. One the use ruthlessly. For example, if you are a scientist who does not agree with global warming, forget speaking engagements and professional services.
“last did it in the 1970s when we still had a country, and most people had a sense of humor”
That was back when it was fun to go to work. I can’t even imagine being in the workforce now - joy-less and soul-less robots. Ugh!
Yes, I’m not a professor but I do work in research. I have presented at scientific conferences although it’s not a requirement.
I’ve not known them to ruin anyone’s career stateside, but I suppose that may be coming...
I just retired after teaching at Auburn University for 20 years.
Our Southern Universities are more conservative than up North, but PC and radical feminism, multiple genders, and safe spaces were starting to show up when I left.
Sad.
