OTTAWA - The Canadian air force is increasingly running short of combat-capable fighter jets and pilots and government attempts to address the problem have only made it worse, the nations top watchdog said on Tuesday.
The report is another blow to a decade-long, trouble-plagued attempt by successive administrations to replace Canadas CF-18 jets, some of which have been flying for almost 40 years.
National Defence (defense ministry) has not done enough to manage risks related to Canadas fighter aircraft fleet ... until a replacement fleet is in place.
Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan said in a statement that Ottawa would launch new initiatives to recruit and retain pilots and was also moving to upgrade the CF-18s.

So you are saying that the Canadians serving are a joke too?
Nope. Im saying that when taken as a whole the Canadian military is a joke. Im sure there are fine individuals serving, undoubtedly. But the political leadership....well...Trudeau.
4 Submarines in total, no aircraft carriers at all, virtually zero heavy lift capability, so yea. Pretty much the Canadian military is a joke.

I would advise you not sharing your opinion with the brave Canadians who flew with RAF during the Battle of Britain, nor with the gallant Canadians who waded ashore on 6 June, 1944..
For the hundred or so of them left, youre quite correct. The modern Canadian military is a joke.
You are correct..very few left. I probably should have used the wording,...”your opinion considering the brave....”
I must be in a minority regarding my respect for the Canadians, but the ones I flew with in the Air Force were top drawer.
but the ones I flew with in the Air Force were top drawer.
Ive no doubt. But that does not change my opinion of the Canadian military.

I’m imagining it being deployed on a secret OP to Siberia when it runs out of juice and is passed by a native on a sled being pulled by reindeer.
Pretty much the same age. All U.S. Navy and Marine A’s and B’s are retired, except for the Blue Angels. The Spanish, Canadians, Australians all bought their aircraft in the late 80’s. Kuwait got their aircraft after the 1991 Gulf War. There aircraft had lighter under carriages and were considered hot rods.
I sent him a mail from me. I’ve been there and done it.
I’m Albertan. If I catch people up here being idiots to Americans, I sort it out. I’m on the route to Alaska, so I see many.
Good on ya. My daughter-in-law is from Calgary. She’s a naturalized American citizen for some twenty years now. I’ve have been to Calgary. Its a nice place.
Considering that at the end of WW2 Canada’s navy was the third largest in the world.
