Nine people face felony charges in connection with a fraud scheme in which they offered cash or cigarettes to homeless people on skid row in downtown Los Angeles in exchange for hundreds of fake or forged signatures on ballot petitions and voter registration forms, prosecutors said.
Los Angeles County prosecutors Tuesday announced the charges, which include circulating a petition with false names, voter fraud and registering a nonexistent person during election cycles in 2016 and this year.
“They paid individuals to sign the names,” said Officer Deon Joseph, the senior lead officer on skid row, told The Times in September. “That’s an assault on our democracy.”

At this point, there is no way for "state officials" to know that, so they are lying, one most highly suspects.
And, while I'm being suspicious, one wonders if the perps might be labor union organizers or employees of some fashion.

Democrats want names on the voter rolls so when the bums don't show up to vote (and the homeless will NOT show up to vote) Democrats can vote for them.
Democrats do fraud by voting the people who don't show up to vote.
Death penalty should apply.
News reports with GIANT half truths represent fake news.
The fraudsters had objectives (who were they trying to beneifit and who paid them to do it) to what they did, and certainly the officials learned of them in their investigation.
But the “journalists” have nothing to say on those important questions.
Did they fail to get that information from the officials, or are they suppressing the answers they got?
