On November 6, Virginias State Corporation Commission (SCC) regulatory agency approved a project to construct wind turbines near Virginia Beach. The plan calls for construction of turbines 27 miles off the coast, to begin operation by the end of 2020. Virginia electricity rate-payers will pay the exorbitant costs of this project. .... According to the Wind Technologies Market Report, US wind turbine market prices in 2016 were just under $1,000 per kilowatt, or about $6 million for a 6-megawatt turbine. Virginia will pay 25 times the US market price for the CVOW turbines.
The wholesale price for electricity in Virginia is about 3 cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh). This is the price received by coal, natural gas, or nuclear generating facilities. The electricity produced from the two offshore turbines will receive 78 cents per kWh, or a staggering 26 times the wholesale price. ... Who speaks for the electricity rate payers of Virginia? Its certainly not Governor Northam, the General Assembly, or Dominion Energy. Long after government officials leave office, Virginia citizens will be on the hook for an expensive offshore wind system that is unlikely to survive the turbulent weather of the Atlantic Ocean.

The Left, in general, exists to screw the taxpayer and enrich their donors and cronies, in turn receiving kickbacks for said enrichment. Well, Virginia you voted for it. Suck it up.
Native born Virginian here, but I live in Japan these days and not only am I federal tax free but state tax exempt as well, and maybe a good thing with the way VA is going.
pretty sure wind isn’t about producing power, it’s about killing birds.
You are not Federal Tax free. American Ex-Pats still have to file a 1040 every year. You can deduct the Japanese taxes but after a certain point you will still be taxed by the US government.
If you don’t file the forms be prepared to be considered a tax cheat and have the IRS file charges against you when you return to the US.
And about the brainwashed feeling good about themselves.
wait dies this mean all of us in Virginia are going to be charged a super high rate for power?
I’m not expat to be honest, I happen to be a US defense contractor on sofa status working with the military here and I been fed tax free for the last 2 1/2 years sorry for the confusion and I have been filing every year.
In extreme weather during winter the wind speed gusts so high that the windmills have to be shut down
Then ...to avoid freezing up have to be fed with the power to keep them warm and cozy.
Meanwhile, UK electricity consumers freeze.
shore = offshore.
So they got what they wanted.
The windmills might work here with the trade winds. But Guam is a special case in a special situation

Yes, Virginia screwed up by electing democrats. However, what is your tax rate in Japan when included sale taxes and income tax and all the local taxes listed in the link below. Cut and past link into your browser.

Virginia is screwed up but no less than Japan. Yesterday I bought gas at WalMart for $1.99 a gallon. What does it cost you in Japan? It is about $5.00 a usa gallon.
If you made 100k a year almost 50% if your income is tax!
bkmk
This is exactly correct! I, a Virginian also, lived in Japan and if your income approaches 80k, your health insurance, which is required by law and taken out of your pay, is immense. Like Obama care, it is income adjusted and just as useless. Stone age level. The largest hospital in Tokyo didn’t have wheelchair ramps and chairs had to be ‘carried’ up the steps, when I lived there. After 8pm at night, the small ‘clinics’, equivalent to our Urgent Care places, only excepted cash. The ‘doctor’ was someone in a white coat. The dentists are butchers and make their counterparts in England look like gifts from God.
Also, the dems have been pushing hard to make a person pay taxes on ALL income earned abroad, regardless of how much was paid to another country. If you make over 70K, you will pay some taxes in the US, too.
Press and politicians reaction: "That's never happened before! It must be global warming."
And screwing up the local weather.
I wonder what the US Navy thinks about putting these noisy machines just off the coast near Norfolk. I would think that all of that mechanical noise would make it that much easier to conceal the presence of an enemy submarine.
I work with the US government on sofa status, im not really taxed except for bills, my japanese apartment and buying stuff off base.
“If you make over 70K, you will pay some taxes in the US, too.”
Actually its around 103k you will end up paying taxes if you go over that which I did last year but wont this year.
