My basic training was there in 1966. Not a lot of fun.

Basic Training there September 1966.

Was back at Bliss for 3 months in the Beaumont Army medical center recouping from my Vietnam tour/vacation lol.

I was from Albuquerque so it was just a short hop from home for me for a while.

1st of 7th ADA, 24E20, 1973-. My second daughter was born at the base hospital. Spent a lot of time at White Sands Missile Range. Training and firing out Israelis and Jordanians. Hawk missiles at $100,000 a pop. Seemed like a lot of money then.

Use to love being there at night. The range next door was for the Vulcan’s they would fire out at night. You would hear someone cut one and look over to see the steady stream of tracers headed down range. Then hear the sound of cars and buses rolling down the range.
When I was young.

REMF Fort.

I don't think 1AD would like to be called REMF. It's composed of 1 SBCT, 2 ABCT, 3 ABCT, DIVARTY, a CAB, and a sustainment brigade.

Howdy, E.G.C. ((HUGZ))

Did you end up with a nice day for a trip to the lake? Gizmo was probably ready to let ‘er rip after your last trip was cut short. :-)

14B SHORAD Officer - Chaparral/Vulcan. 6/56 ADA 77-81, did two years at Hahn (C Battery) and 2 years at Spangdahlem (Battalion Staff, Asst S-3, PBO, and S-4).

Followed my last Battalion Commander to Fort Bliss, worked for him again at the Air Defense Board (after Advance Course).

Met my wife there, she worked in my operations section at the Board. She's outranked me ever since...lol.

Back in the good old days...I recall strippers at the Beaumont O'Club a couple days a week during lunch.

REMF Fort. Sorry Bliss has been ADA for years even in the 60’s. I knew no ADA combat types, but; frankly the ADA officer corps had some with MSAE’s. Smart as hell.

Where in Hades did that come from? ADA was moved back to Fort Sill years ago.

Glad you had a nice day to get out. Those days will be hard to come by before long.

I guess your chill has moved over here since we have a nippy day ahead. But it’ll warm back up fairly nicely the rest of the week.

Not Fort Bliss!

Really nice PX area! It looks much better in comparison to the sandbox. You don’t appreciate the water (or beer) until it’s gone...
