Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is leveraging his political power to try to convince Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey to choose Rep. Martha McSally to replace Republican Sen. Jon Kyl, who is considering leaving his seat before his term ends, several Republican sources familiar with the conversations tell CNN.
McSally, a Republican congresswoman who once worked for Kyl, lost her Senate bid two weeks ago to Democratic Rep. Kyrsten Sinema. Kyl, who was picked by the governor in September to fill the seat vacated by the late Sen. John McCain. told CNN last week he has decided whether to leave office before his term ends at the end of next year. He wouldn't reveal his decision, but said he will talk to Ducey about it.

Vote fraud? Not really. By all accounts, McSally ran a poor campaign and was behind in most all polls. The republican candidate for governor was comfortable ahead in those same polls and won comfortably, too. Voters split tickets all the time.
McSally was a feminist troublemaker in the Air Force. The article below is from a worthog pilot who doesnt think to much of her. But I still wish she had won that senate seat over that blond headed dingbat. If I were Doocy I would appoint Ward, whose a rock solid conservative.

So predictable and from the ones predicted, too. It is so easy to cry vote fraud, because the intellectual exercise to understand the loss is harder to do.
Why would McSally concede immediately if she knows the DHS is going to smack down on Dem vote fraud? That would be more reason to contest the election and be in position to overturn the result. Going after the fraudsters would be the by product anyway. I think that if it were contested, the eyes of the country would be focused on it.
I cannot think of a reason why immediate concession is beneficial. I went through the all of possibilities of the seat held by Kyle and replacements along with Ducey’s desire to be a senator. I also even considering his Ducey a full term through 2022 and then running against Sinema in 2024. I see no benefit or rationale to non contest the election results. Rooting out fraud only helps Rs chances.
I am interested in your reasoning.
“Possibly, although given that McSally took 52% of the vote in that primary, it hardly seems like Joe made a difference.”
Very hard to say. With the conservative vote split, I think we all knew McSally was going to win a majority. I know a number of voters who preferred Ward but said it wasn’t worth voting because Ward couldn’t win with Arpaio in the race.
The problem with getting Ward elected would have been two-fold:
1 - Just 6 weeks from the primary to the first votes cast in Arizona! Works as an incumbent protection scheme. Sinema started her run for Senate in April. Whoever won the GOP primary effectively started running in September, with the first votes cast in October!
2 - The Cheap Labor Express wing (McCain, Flake) would probably have voted for Sinema out of spite. Unlike the Stop Illegal Immigration side, which I think fell in line behind McSally. Holding our noses, but we voted to try to stop Sinema. The CLE would have preferred Sinema over Ward. Like McCain, they always understand liberals and passionately HATE conservatives!
Yes we do lol
I think these election conspiracies hurt us in the long run, it chases away moderates and independents
We need to stick to the facts here. McSally was an awful candidate who alienated the conservative base and ran a bad campaign.
Total votes for Senate: 2,208,567.
Total votes for Governor: 2,202,094.
According to Wapo, so, whatever.
But McSally got 181,904 votes less than Ducey. How bad could she be?
Dems cheat all the time. With illegal aliens voting in our elections, it’s almost impossible to overcome the fraud plus the illegal votes. McSally is mcStain in a skirt but she would have won if not for the illegal and fraudulent votes for Sinema.
ICYMI, the dems had a coordinated nationwide fraud campaign. They pulled out all the stops to cheat. Just say no to oxy
In two years, Ducey runs for that seat.
Not that bad...
You may be right, but, if I’m not mistaken, AZ has open primaries. Its possible the crossover voters knew McSally would be easy to beat.
NO!! She’ll fall right in line with McTurtle and company
NO!! She’ll fall right in line with McTurtle and company
“...he conceded immediately because she knows the DHS is going to layeth the smacketh down on Dem vote fraud..”
You’re funny. Is this part of your regular stand-up routine?
“At the least, there will be new laws at stopping vote fraud.”
I think you’re the one smoking weed. Who, pray tell, is going to pass these “new laws at stopping vote fraud” = the Dem HoR?
There isn’t a thimble’s worth of courage in all of Congress to fight vote fraud. Esp. now that Trump lost so many key House allies.
Well of course he is. Ducey needs to appoint Kelli Ward.
Agreed. Do people think that EO was just done for the fun of it? DHS has got the goods on the election fraud that just occurred. The only question is just how expansive it was.
No fraud investigation, that’s all lunacy with no evidence to support it.
Ducey won’t appoint himself because his successor as Governor would be the newly elected Dem Secretary of State (who takes over in odd AZ).
Nevertrumpers can easily account for the 8% of Rs that split the ticket to vote for Sinema and also Ducey in Maricopa county. The numbers work, especially when you realize Sinema and McSally split Is 50/50ish.
McCain and Flake have hammered the Nevertrump line with AZ Rs for 2 years. 2 years of Trump bashing. This is why AZ Rs fall slightly below the national average for Rs who support Trump. This slight margin was enough.
I supported Ward. I’d love to see her appointed but it will be McSally, a CoC pick.
That is what is going to happen He does not dare appoint one of them, and will prob be Cindy.
