Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is leveraging his political power to try to convince Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey to choose Rep. Martha McSally to replace Republican Sen. Jon Kyl, who is considering leaving his seat before his term ends, several Republican sources familiar with the conversations tell CNN.
McSally, a Republican congresswoman who once worked for Kyl, lost her Senate bid two weeks ago to Democratic Rep. Kyrsten Sinema. Kyl, who was picked by the governor in September to fill the seat vacated by the late Sen. John McCain. told CNN last week he has decided whether to leave office before his term ends at the end of next year. He wouldn't reveal his decision, but said he will talk to Ducey about it.

The democrat running for Governor was pretty poor, and Ducey is actually known and liked by Arizonians.
Meanwhile, McSally is like watching paint dry; she made a lot of people mad in her primary against Kelli, and Sinema was certainly a more entertaining candidate than whats-his-name running for governor.
“Ahead on Election Night” is a meaningless statistic, like saying “but the Giants were ahead after the 3rd quarter, so how could they lose”.
75% of the Arizona voters were vote-by-mail, and they had to verify signatures, and still had about 600,000 uncounted ballots after election night.
For it’s increasingly idiotic political choices I think AZ should lose statehood status and revert back to a territory. And I live there!
Sinema had 20% more votes in her primary than McSally got in hers.
And McSally had the unfortunate truth of being an establishment republican who, in the end, got shafted by Jeff Flake anyway, because he wanted the democrats to win the seat.
POssibly, although given that McSally took 52% of the vote in that primary, it hardly seems like Joe made a difference.
I would go for Paul Gosar, Congressman from CD-4. Can’t get much more conservative than him. Plus we would certainly retain the congressional seat in a special election since CD-4 is Republican +21.
Why not just give it to Flake?
Kelli Ward would be a far better choice IMHO.
When I was travelling through Washington DC last summer what should pop up my phone while reading Breitbart but ads for McSally for Senate of all things. She must be bought and paid for Chamber of Commerce candidate. That would explain McConnell’s enthusiasm for a personality challenged loser like McSally.
That is why Brenda Snipes immediately resigned, because the Feds are ALREADY investigating the fraud in FL, and why McSally immediately conceded, because Trump is about to lower the boom on vote fraud.
Snipes resigned because she is 75 years old and got caught with her hands in the cookie jar one to many times for plausible deniability to work. The Dems need a new bag lady so they made her walk the plank.
How do you know it was vote fraud? Haven’t found anything about that. It does seem odd, so I’m asking if you’ve got a link.
LOOK PEOPLE: Ward-loser. McSally-loser. OK? Go with Jan Brewer for 2 years. Then she runs in 2020 to fill out the remaining 2 years. Our SAFEST bet. By then Ducey will be term limited and can run for a full Senate term. We keep it for 10 years that way. These congressmen you mention are minor leaguers.
McConnell wants AZ other senate seat to go Dem in 2020 because he knows McSally would lose again.
Ducey will do his part and appoint a McCain, either Cindy or Megan. I’m surprised BJ hasn’t given Cindy a call.
they debated. i watched it on c-span. mcsally wasn’t great but sinema acted overly concerned about az and the issues (opposite of soundbites of her mocking many az people) and talked slow and monotone.
Youre right
