U.S. hate crimes increased by 17 percent last year, federal officials said Tuesday, a surge driven by racial and anti-Semitic attacks and linked by some experts to the wider public emergence of white supremacists and other hate groups.

There is no clarification on what constituted a “hate crime”.

Of course the article trots out a leftist to blather that these numbers are a gross undercount, and that a hundred thousand hate crimes go unreported (he doesn’t mean those against whites). His basis? He don’t need no stinkin’ basis...

there were 8,941,407 crimes in 2017.

Thus hate crimes make up 0.08% of all crime. That’s an incredibly small percentage and would seem to show how non-racist our country is, when the hate crimes essentially round to zero.
