His wishful thinking would never happen. When it is offered in real time to all news outlets, SOMEBODY will broadcast it live. So everyone who doesn’t will miss out. It would require remarkable collusion on the part of the news outlets..
Exactly who do you think you are such that you should be the arbiter of truth, the decider of what information gets to be seen, and what opinions people should have?
Not that a university education makes one an expert on all things, or qualifies one’s opinions as credible or superior; but, you dropped out of college. You've been working at newspapers since you were in high school, and the workings of that industry is what you know. Why and how does that make your opinions so important and informed such that you should be allowed to filter the information the rest of us see?
What your proclamations make clear is that you are arrogant, and elitist. By the way, if the MSM begins filtering and editing coverage of White House press conferences, I would encourage the White House to start filming them themselves, and posting the raw footage online - each and every day. That way, the people you are supposed to be serving and delivering the truth to will be able to see first hand the huge gulf between actuality and what gets reported. It won't be pretty.

Why doesn’t Carl Bernstein run for President?
He’s the only Democrat trying to promote a policy that wouldn’t bankrupt the country within a week.
And his proposed policy speaks directly to the news media’s favorite issue — itself. CNN is trying to disrupt White House news conferences.
As a presidential candidate, Carl Bernstein would be all over the media, taking valuable air time from his 20 Democratic opponents, and become the candidate to beat if he continues to promote the vital issue facing America — White House news conference reform.
I still think under the guise of safety, the White House should prohibit any cameras phones or electronic devices many kind of being taken in by the media. Provide a government live feed to the people. And let the press use that footage.
The Enemy of the State media has been doing this for decades already.
Two tricks that they always use:
Show the reporter asking the question, and then show a Republican waiting for the question to finish before they answer. The volume is shut off, so you can’t hear the question being asked, and it looks like the Republican is caught dumbfounded for several seconds.
Show the reporter asking the question, and then show a Democrat answering the question immediately. The five seconds of dumb looks and “ah, er, umm...” is edited out to make the Democrat look smart.
