The Georgia gubernatorial race is not over yet. Republican Brian Kemp is ahead by about 18,000, but Stacey Abrams's campaign is trying to take the contest to court, in unprecedented fashion.
Abrams campaign chairwoman Allegra Lawrence-Hardy said all options are on the table, including using a state law that has never before been attempted at this level of elections. They are filing a petition in the name of voter suppression.
Allegra Lawrence-Hardy, Abrams campaign chairwoman, is overseeing a team of almost three-dozen lawyers who in the coming days will draft the petition, along with a ream of affidavits from voters and would-be voters who say they were disenfranchised. Abrams would then decide whether to go to court under a provision of Georgia election law that allows losing candidates to challenge results based on misconduct, fraud or irregularities ... sufficient to change or place in doubt the results.
The legal team is considering all options, Lawrence-Hardy said, including federal court remedies. But the state challenge is the most drastic. And some Democratic legal observers note Abrams would be dependent on statutes that set a high bar for the court to intervene.
Kemp has declared victory, however, and recently resigned as secretary of state after complaints that his office should not be allowed to oversee elections. He said that was not entirely the reason he stepped aside, noting he wanted to "give public confidence to the certification process."
Kemp's 18,000-vote lead is enough to avoid a Dec. 4 runoff and state officials are preparing to officially declare him the winner. His campaign is accusing Abrams of staging a publicity stunt and a ridiculous temper tantrum.
Incorrect.
THIS one goes to the GA Supreme Court not one of their tame political whores pretending to be a judge
I think that the author meant that Governor-elect Kemp is around 18,000 votes above the 50%+1 threshold required to avoid a run-off. Even Abrams already conceded long ago that she didn’t get more votes than Kemp; she was just trying to “discover” more votes so that Kemp would fall bellow 50%+1 and thus spark a run-off on December 4.
I cannot imagine the case remaining in state court unless Abrams gets the judgement she wants there. Everything these days is a federal case, especially when it comes to race and voting.
I hear the office of dogcatcher is open.
Next stop the US Supreme Court. Think she will do any better there?
She’s just trying to milk the base for as much as she can.
What really drives me nuts is the concept that someone like this is somehow being held qualified to run a State Government.
Has she ever served as a CEO of a large company? As VP? As Director? Does she have any real experience with budgets, large organization management? Has she proven herself a competent leader? What rational expectation would GA residents have if there was a natural disaster and this lady was at the helm?
What national/international political or business relationships and/or accomplishments can she boast of? If a business wanted to add 10,000 jobs to a Southern State - would she have any clue where to begin.
Can this Lady claim any real credential with law enforcement, fighting crime, punishing criminals? Can she even demonstrate being FOR any sort of law and order standard?
I don’t see a Governorship as qualifying for on-the-job training. I don’t see a shelf of shiny participation trophies as having achieved sufficient skill and knowledge to be CEO of a large US State.
"Abrams" is a fitting last name for her, GIVEN SHE'S AS BIG AS A TANK!
What a FUGLY SORE LOSER BIATCH SHE IS.
No worries, everyone get a pony now... except for the people paying for them and people who want to be protected by laws and stuff.
Demand all you want. She’s just a nobody like me.
No more marbles! Game over Hippo!
Forgive me for not getting your permission to post the article. /sarcasm>

Stop pissing your pants.
You need not read every thread.
Sorry,
Yes Kemp won, but if there was “a new vote altogether” I thought in the worst case THe Rep, The Dem and all the 3rd party candidates would be up again & write in votes allowed.
“Best” case for “a new vote” would be top 2 run off.
How about a Unicorn instead.
.
If Jim Acosta has a right to tantrum, so does Stacy.
(see where all this is going?)
Incompetency reigns supreme here.
What are you, Kaslins mommy?
