Report: Stacey Abrams May Demand a New Vote Altogether

The Georgia gubernatorial race is not over yet. Republican Brian Kemp is ahead by about 18,000, but Stacey Abrams's campaign is trying to take the contest to court, in unprecedented fashion.

Abrams’ campaign chairwoman Allegra Lawrence-Hardy said all options are on the table, including using a state law that has never before been attempted at this level of elections. They are filing a petition in the name of voter suppression.

Allegra Lawrence-Hardy, Abrams’ campaign chairwoman, is overseeing a team of almost three-dozen lawyers who in the coming days will draft the petition, along with a ream of affidavits from voters and would-be voters who say they were disenfranchised. Abrams would then decide whether to go to court under a provision of Georgia election law that allows losing candidates to challenge results based on “misconduct, fraud or irregularities ... sufficient to change or place in doubt the results.”

The legal team is “considering all options,” Lawrence-Hardy said, including federal court remedies. But the state challenge is the most drastic. And some Democratic legal observers note Abrams would be dependent on statutes that set a high bar for the court to intervene.

Kemp has declared victory, however, and recently resigned as secretary of state after complaints that his office should not be allowed to oversee elections. He said that was not entirely the reason he stepped aside, noting he wanted to "give public confidence to the certification process."

Kemp's 18,000-vote lead is enough to avoid a Dec. 4 runoff and state officials are preparing to officially declare him the winner. His campaign is accusing Abrams of staging a “publicity stunt” and a “ridiculous temper tantrum.”

Actually he’s ahead by somewhere in excess of 55,000 votes. I believe the author meant to say that she is behind roughly 18,000 votes to force a runoff.

Abrams does the shuck and jive....a sweet, Aunt Jemima Southerner with an “Aw shucks” gap-toothed grin and a chuckle.........
who is so far left, she burned the Georgia flag, is a closet Leninist and is conniving to steal an election.

That she got so far ....as a guber/candidate..... in conservative Georgia is v-e-r-y troublesome.

You can just hear the Democrats saying "Lookit all those Black people in Georgia. We can win there."

So the "fickle finger of fate" fell on Abrams.

THIS JUST IN——By Greg Bluestein Mark Niesse, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Democrat Stacey Abrams is fast running out of options to close a deficit in the race for Georgia governor.

Republican winner Brian Kemp has already moved on – and has a transition office under the Gold Dome to prove it.

The Democrat’s campaign is considering a long-shot legal challenge under a law that allows losing candidates to contest the election in the case of misconduct, fraud or “irregularities.” Abrams would face a tremendous legal burden to prove her case. The latest tally showed Abrams is roughly 55,000 votes behind Kemp — and in need of more than 17,000 votes to force a Dec. 4 runoff.

Georgia law requires a runoff if no candidate gets a majority of the vote, which is only a possibility because a third-party contender netted about 1 percent.

Abrams’ campaign has long tried to make the case that Kemp used his role as secretary of state to suppress the vote (the ol’ Jim Crow routine). But to have a chance in court, Abrams would have to definitively prove there were enough Georgians blocked from voting to close the gap.

Barring successful legal action, the secretary of state could certify the election as soon as 5 pm Friday and cement Kemp’s victory in the tightest race for Georgia governor since 1966.

Abram’s campaign said there’s 26,846 provisional ballots uncounted. (I guess Brenda Snipes was called in to do the counting)

Kemp’s campaign said 21,190 provisional ballots are still outstanding.

The Georgia secretary of state’s website lists 21,190 provisional ballots as being accounted for.

If Abrams is able to gain slightly more than 23,700 votes on Kemp, the race is pushed into a mandatory recount.

If she can gain about 25,600, it is forced into a runoff.

She’s hoping that when all the votes are accounted for, Kemp’s vote share drops below the critical 50 percent threshold, which would trigger a runoff on Dec. 4.

Snipes begins counting......”let’s see ...five for Stacy, one for Kemp”.......10 for Stacey, none for Kemp”......

My bet is on Soros. He probably doesn’t even bother to hide it.

I’m sure the Dems can make that happen, they make ballots appear out of thin air all the time.
