Orderliness can be technologically imposed to shut down the screaming of questions out of order and talking over the President as well as other reporters. Take away the opportunity for Acosta-style grandstanding. The mic can also be shut down remotely rather than relying upon an intern to pass a cordless mic from reporter to reporter.

Truthfully, though, there is no reason to continue to even provide the opportunity for the press to act in this manner. Why is a mic in front of the President required for them to be an ass? It’s not. So, go be an ass out on the sidewalk along Pennsylvania Avenue. They’ve proved themselves incapable of a civil exchange or to abide by the simplest rules of decorum.

Excellent post! Can’t believe you’ve had no responses to your post.

From experience you don’t give the control of the microphone to the person asking a question in this type of forum.

You either keep control of the mic by letting someone you trust hold it in front of them while they are talking or have the ability to cut it off remotely.
