A federal judge on Friday granted CNN's request for a court order that would temporarily reinstate network correspondent Jim Acosta's White House press pass, which had been suspended indefinitely in the wake of a fiery exchange between the reporter and President Donald Trump a week earlier.
The ruling from Judge Timothy Kelly, who was appointed by Trump, was a first victory for CNN in the ongoing case.
CNN's lawsuit, announced Tuesday, argues that Acosta's constitutional rights had been violated by Trump and five other members of his administration, as well as by the U.S. Secret Service. The other defendants include chief of staff John Kelly, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, deputy chief of staff Bill Shine and Secret Service Director Randolph Alles.

Amen. Separation of powers issue, not one of law. The White House should ignore the order. And even if the CNN scumbag weasels his way back in, about zero probability he’ll be called on for a question.
This should be very straightforward...who is vetting these judges for POTUS?
McConnell. We will find out over time these “Trump judges” or more times than not mainline GOPe careerists and not MAGA oriented.
Or else what?
I am self-identifying as a reporter and demand to have a desk and microphone at CNN.
The First Amendment does not give any rights. Nor does the Second. Nor the Third. Nor the Fourth. They protect our natural rights from infringement by the federal government.
Nothing about freedom of the press has anything to do with a White House press pass. The standard retort to that is to claim that the lack of a press pass precludes Acosta from directly questioning the President. Well, so does a lack of Presidential availability. Should the next step be to require the President to make himself available daily for questions on the basis that not doing so constitutes a violation of the First Amendment?
I said the other day that President Trump should end Press Breifings and set up a .gov site to receive questions from everyone, not just so called press, and answer the ones he wants written online.
End the whole stupid press conference “Sturm Und Drang” show! Let the networks give them TV shows where they can show their angst, preen & prance!. The information content from the current situation is basically zero! Do the following instead!
1. Accept questions from the network “newsies” through the WH website. Accept questions from anybody! That way no one is favored. Break the MSM monopoly!
2. Assign a number as they come in. Then randomly the questions & rank order them due to issues of the day & things the WH wants to emphasize. Post 100 questions with answers the next day on the WH website downloadable by anyone. Also place a DVD with a paper summary in the WH press room. (This is for those of the press who are cyber challenged!) The remaining questions get answered over time just not the next day like the first 100.
3 The MSM can take these “answers” and discuss, whine, cry throw all the TV tantrums they want on the networks time & money. Let’s see if anyone actually watches!
4. Buy time on the network for FDR-like “Fireside Chats”. I am sure the MSM’s will respond with the “counter-chats” . Fine! Again lets see who ratings are better!
5. Put the “chats” and other WH information videos on YouTube. That’s where millennials for better or worse are going for their information anyway. This reaches out to them. The WH Press Brief is out of date! End it! Break that old paradigm Do it! It’s Trumpian to do so!
Networks don’t own their airwaves. I believe that the USG can preempt programming under certain circumstances. The airwaves are licensed to them by FedGov.
Not sure they’d have to buy any airtime at all.
I love the lottery idea. Apply it to newsies. Anyone can apply for the lottery on any given day, but only THREE are getting in. I suppose, however, Soros would game that somehow.
So there is a constitutional right to a White House press pass. I want mine. I suspect Acosta and CNN will be shadow banned.
You're right Cyclops08 - CNN DOES NOT CONTROL THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES.
The Supreme Court can tell them that if they're too stupid to figure it out on their own. Maybe the MSM should submit questions in written form and President Trump can pull 10 out of a hat to answer.
The press is rude - too rude to 'showcase' to the world. Pull all of 'em.
You’re still allowing the newsies too much control.
My proposal completely bypasses them ends the last remnants of the Radio\TV Age and moves WH Information release into the decentralized Internet Age.
The left’s counter would be to nakedly exposé themselves by censoring YouTube. (I think its owned by one of the lefty Internet content providers [ I forget which one!])
That’s why we need legislation declaring the Internet giants as the modern equivalent of common carriers. All they’re allowed to do is do the engineering to support the traffic. It should be violation of “civil rights law” offense to try and control the information content. I don’t care if its real Nazis or what leave it be! Block it at your browser! If you don’t want it!
You're right Cyclops08
CNN DOES NOT CONTROL THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. NO COMMIE GROUP EVER SHOULD...

I agree with you. Just call it gamed and move on. They can submit questions on the site, they get a tracking code for the question. People in the admin answer the questions, and future admins just go over their head.
Moreover, the press will no longer be able to twist or lie. All the answers will be available to everyone.
Give him the pass, but have the secret service give him a full body cavity search at the door every day, until the press conference is over.
I had a sinking feeling that we would lose this. The other side seemed confident they would win.
“The ruling from Judge Timothy Kelly, who was appointed by Trump, was a first victory for CNN in the ongoing case.”
I’m going with Trump already knew this and wants the fight to go to SCOTUS.
Judge Timothy Kelly is a Trump appointed judge. How dare the judicial branch tell the executive branch who it must invite into the WH.
Simple solution, do not call on any CNN reporter during pressers.
Trump should invite Alex Jones.
Simple solution: Restrict “White House access” to the press room. The Democrat party propagandists can sit in there and play pocket pool all day.
