How could Arizona elect someone like Kyrsten Sinema?
American Thinker ^ | November 13, 2018 | Monica Showalter

The election results for Arizona are in, and Democratic Senate candidate Kyrsten Sinema has won, winning the seat held by outgoing Republican Sen. Jeff Flake.

It's a puzzling result, not the least because the vote count took a week. In mitigation, there were far fewer warnings of fraud than we are currently seeing in Florida, and the delay was solely the result of 640,000 mail-in ballots that had yet to be counted. And, according to media reports, it's typical of Arizona to take a long time, so it wasn't that unusual.

But there was some weirdness: How could 350,000 voters check off their ballots for Republican gubenatorial candidate Doug Ducey and yet place the x down for Sinema as well? It doesn't usually happen that way, but take a look at the comparable results - this time, it did.

McSally was at best lukewarm to POTUS.....

Maybe that was why PDJT's rally in Mesa seemed much shorter than others. I was on the live thread that night and a few freepers noted that he just didn't seem as energetic as he was in other rallies. Plus, I wondered why he didn't come to AZ sooner. Maybe he knew it would be a losing battle so his concentration was placed elsewhere.

McSally still won by a majority. Even if he hand’t run, Ward would still have lost.

Question: Did Ducey do particularly well with Independents, and maybe pull some conservative Dem voters as well?

Everybody looks for negative, but maybe Ducey had strengths in areas most FReepers would not consider at 1st glance.

Who knew? It explains a lot. Mormans are 6% of Az population. Over 400k of them. That’s why she won another flake filling Flakeys shoes.

I don’t think most women cared McSally was a fighter pilot. If she was a guy probably. She looked matronly and in need of a makeover and personality transplant.

She’ll have more impact on people outside AZ.

Howsabout: She won running against another LIBERAL NEVER-TRUMPER.

Whatta choice, would you rather be poisoned, or shot?

Much as I gave her a lot of rope for doing what she did in the USAF ... this lesson must not be forgotten - Trust in Trump - or go down. The “normals” who voted him in will not look kindly on RINOs who don’t share the vision to #MAGA!!!

Have to say that in the little bit I saw of McSally on TV she seemed sort of drab and reticent - Sinema seemed more lively and tuned in - even though what she was listening to was from another world......

Its quite a task we have to get this ship righted but what is the other choice. I only hope it won’t take too much more to get people mad enough to demand a secure system for elections. I like retina scans or finger dipped in purple dye (it should glow under black light too so we catch all the yobos that think they washed it all off).

“Question: Did Ducey do particularly well with Independents, and maybe pull some conservative Dem voters as well?”

Probably. My only point is that we shouldn’t blame the outcome on illegal voting or fraud. No one is questioning the other races in Arizona. So maybe the Sinema vs McSally race had a lot to do with the candidates and how they ran their campaigns. AND the bitter primary fight that ended just weeks before voting starts.

FWIW, I strongly support holding the primary earlier than the current law has it. I think it was set before early voting was allowed, or at least before it became popular. As it is, it works like a protection clause for anyone who runs uncontested in the primary - as Sinema effectively did.

".... the Az Dem committee gave her as little support as possible...."

Why would the Arizona democRATS give a republican any support?

Wasted his trip on McSally. Should have gone to Michigan for James.
