You’re quite right. It is an insult to claim that they need defending against NATO. An absolute insult. What they are really saying, of course, is that they wish to oppose the Anglophone world.
The English Speaking Peoples have often been an irritation to France.
This will come to pass, as the bible indicates Europe as being a super power in the last days, it also indicates that the antichrist rises from Europe and that the antichrist has a great army. Europe is unknowingly getting things set up for the great Tribulation period.
OK, here’s the deal, Europe. We are going to pull ALL foreign aid from everyone. Let charity freely given be the help.
We are bringing our troops home. We are leaving the UN, NATO and other entanglements. The UN can relocate to Brussels, Paris or Beijing. Our trade deals will be to our advantage or neutral at worst.
We will restore aid only where it provides a clear benefit to the United States. We don’t care if you LIKE us as long as you FEAR us.
Now that the countries are enjoined under the EU umbrella, thewy can form their own little world government. Was that the REAL goal. Are we starting to see History repeat itself?

Sure, just call yourself an empire. No nations of course, that would be nationalistic. Eradicate anything French or German or Italian.

A European “empire” would be a Franco-German empire, with Germany as the dominant partner. Like the Austro-Hungarian empire before it, it would have many dis-satisfied principalities that didn’t partcularly care for the arrangement. Say, isn’t that how WW I got started?

Unfortunately the only “citzens” in these countries that are “crackin” are the Muslims. They are cranking out offspring at rates that assure them the ability to take over both countries plus Germany in less than a generation. All they have to do is wait for their children to grow to adulthood and it’s over.
Can’t even pay your NATO obligations.....and the days of Empires is over, long been over.

Perhaps, but that was built on the British Navy, which I believe has only a single aircraft carrier nowadays, and that one still isn’t even fully operational.
No, certain Biblical interpretations indicate that. Whether those interpretations will ultimately turn out to be correct remains to be seen.

I’m afraid that there is a very powerful force determined to make Europe an Empire.
IT IS GERMANY and she will undoubtedly rule this empire like Britain did most of the Third World until they lost it in WWI.
Germany is a remarkable country. It has less than 1% of the world’s labor force, yet produces 20% of the world’s gross product.
The Nazis didn’t surrender after WWII. Instead they fled to South America and used their stolen money to dig in and infiltrate Europe’s and the rest of the world’s power structure and economy.
The Nazis have stirred up the Muslim world all during WWII and beyond. They had SS LTC Otto Skorzeny organize the Muslims against the Israelis, and to train Muslim forces to destabilize the Middle East.
Naziism which is a branch of fascism, believes and works toward a amalgamation of state and corporate power.
Most FReepers can see this in today’s US political situation.
The Nazis believed in total control of the people, and above all they were national socialists. In the US today we seem to be heading for socialism minus nationalism.
So, if the French think Europe should be an empire and it becomes one, the Germans, their arch enemy for hundreds of years, will be their rulers.
