President Trump has decided to remove Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, and her departure from the administration is likely to occur in the coming weeks, if not sooner, according to five current and former White House officials.
Trump canceled a planned trip with Nielsen this week to visit U.S. troops at the border in South Texas and told aides over the weekend he wants her out as soon as possible, these officials said. The president has grumbled for months about what he views as Nielsens lackluster performance on immigration enforcement and is believed to be looking for a replacement who will implement his policy ideas with more alacrity.
The announcement could come as soon as this week, three of these officials said.

This took WAY too long.

Sheriff Joe?
Oh, God no!
Archers - LOOSE!
No. We need someone younger and with a smaller ego.
Good. I dont sense any commitment from her.
Rudy was who first came to my mind.
Kobach would be a good replacement.
She was an amnesty supporter, suggested by another, Kelly.
I’d put Sarah Palin in charge of DHS. In fact she called for militarizing the border years ago in an Bill O’Reilly interview.
Judge Janine Pero?
Yes it did. Whoever is recommending these disastrous picks needs to be gone, too
Isn’t she the one who assured us all that the election was safe from fraud?
LOL
LOL
And isn’t she the one that was the subject of a loud verbal disagreement between Mattis and somebody else? It’s been a while, and my memory is foggy on the details.
Rudy’s great gift is that he knows how to knock heads together and get everybody marching in step.
Bad choice. I said this from the outset. Time it was corrected.

Trump has changed his mind on key personnel decisions before, and Chief of Staff John F. Kelly is fighting Nielsens pending dismissal and attempting to postpone it, aides say. But Kellys future in the administration also is shaky, according to three White House officials.
Sounds fishy to me. A lot more about how bad Kelly is. This and similar articles in the past about shakeups in Trump's administration make it sound as though his admin is in chaos, his advisors aren't trustworthy, Trump isn't secure in his choices, doesn't know what he's doing, and on and on.
Not saying there isn't some truth in the article, how do I know? But I seriously doubt the whole thing is true. AND - this is the Washington Post!!! I thought it was MSNBC but these are the writers: nick.miroff@washpost.com josh.dawsey@washpost.com philip.rucker@washpost.com
We’ll know very soon if it’s true.
