Democratic congresswoman Kyrsten Sinema has emerged victorious in Arizonas hotly contested Senate battle, helping her party make gains in the upper chamber of Congress.
Following a hotly contested race where both candidates lead in differing polls, Sinema Arizonas 9th Congressional District representative has defeated Republican congresswoman Martha McSally after nearly a week since Election Day.
The back-and-forth election saw both candidates take the lead at different times before the November elections. McSally trailed Sinema for much of the beginning of the campaign, but saw her numbers rise after Sinema a former activist against the Iraq and Afghanistan war dealt with numerous embarrassing headlines emanating from her past.
McSally originally led in the vote count. However, Sinema was able to rack up mail-in votes following Election, eventually surpassing her Republican opponent.
Before becoming a U.S. representative, Sinema was involved in numerous protests against the war in Afghanistan and Iraq, with some of her past actions resurfacing. In 2003, a group she co-founded distributed flyers that depicted U.S. soldiers as skeletons. During a radio interview in 2003, Sinema is on record saying she didnt care if Americans took up arms to join the Taliban. McSally, on the other-hand, was fiercely attacked for her vote in the House to repeal Obamacare, a law she has long criticized.
Well, Sean, I did vote to repeal and replace Obamacare on that House bill Im getting my ass kicked for it right now because its being misconstrued by the Democrats, McSally said in an interview with Sean Hannity in late October. The Human Rights Campaign 2018 Los Angeles Gala Dinner - Show

The Real Clear Politics average of polls gave McSally a one-point lead in the run up to Election Day. While all within the margin-of-error, three of the latest surveys included the RCP average showed McSally ahead.
The Associated Press called the election on Monday night.
McSally took to Twitter to concede and thanked her supporters.
Sinema is a fraudulent Senator.
She’s not the Arizona Senator by any means of legitimate vote counting.
The Democrats have shown the world how very Evil they are and they do not have a Legitimate Senator with their corrupt tally of the votes.
Sinema is a complete Fraud.
Those who vote decide nothing. Those who count the vote decide everything. -- Joseph Stalin
“Shes not the Arizona Senator by any means of legitimate vote counting”
NOPE!
Arizona is now the laughingstock of the nation, with Senator Strapon representing Queerizona
No longer the state of Barry Goldwater, Paul Fannin, Jack Williams or even Morris Udall.
Just a joke.
She didn’t seem disappointed much....perhaps because there is speculation that Gov. Ducey will name her to complete the 2 years of McCain’s term, which Sen Kyl wants to vacate.
Marxist Barbie The D.C. Bimbo.
My sentiments, too. Embrace the Suck!
Can’t win them fairly, steal them.....
So many violations of the law here not even funny......!
Also did not help that Ward and Arpaio did not endorse McSally, very disappointed in both of them

Not true, Ward endorsed her via twitter and even cut a radio ad for her:
Ryan could have scheduled some votes to show Sinema’s true colors and contrast w McSally. Both her and McSally were sitting congresswomen.
Blame him also
You may be on to something there. On another thread, a poster in AZ said that McSally came off as "prim", while Sinema appeared "attractive" to some, and "fun". In this warped culture, that alone probably applies as stated. But, taken a step further, while I find her repulsive and artificial - almost like some sort of 1950's B movie sci-fi android, how many guys look at Sinema and are consciously or unconsciously fantasizing "wild threesome"?
This is totally different than, say, Sarah Palin, where many guys would naturally find her attractive, but they'd also know Todd would smash them into a 10" dia. x 2" tall pile of remains if even a hint of impropriety was shown toward her.

More seriously (or dryer politically, anyway) another poster on a seemingly unrelated thread was speculating that a political party that combined support for border control and National Health Care would rule the US for 100 years. I'd dispute the 100 years, but, 20? Now look at what Sinema said in this campaign. She may be smarter than many FReepers give her credit for.
Well, Senator Murray can rest in peace.
Her new replacement has arrived, as the dumbest member of congress, thanks to a middle of the road pubbie.
Same Ward wasn’t stronger.
I have to think that they are not “getting away with it.”
I am not normally an angry person, and If I am incensed, there has to be many others.
Please do not give in. Please stay strong and on offense.
We can do this.
Why is it that, when "votes are found," they are always Democrat?
Could it be that the Democrat Party cheats??
This is the much bigger question and should be asked over and over. This thing should have gone to the court. Why isn't McSally contesting this in court?
I must admit, I was not impressed with McSally.
Perhaps we can get a candidate who believes in the rule of law AND the conservative platform.
I’m sure McSally is a good soldier, but that is not enough, we need a good conservative.
Andy Biggs
OOooooooo, that’s a good one.
Andy would be FANTASTIC.
At least the voters would know he’s a conservative and give them a choice. He’s also out there in the media. He has a good resume behind him too.
Only Maricopa County is left and she’s been underperforming. They know where the votes uncounted are from.
