I love your post. Agree. See mine.
Not sure this is even accurate. Cant help but think that this is another Dem stat with no solid backing. Obama and his ilk have spent two years planning massive voter fraud. Perhaps this was more at play than suburban women. That said, putting out this narrative is another way to convince the public that this sector of voters are turning on Trump - the Dems are diabolical and often manage to create spin.
Most suburban women work in an office or classroom, if at all. More than their share work in government. Financial services workers always break Dem.
I’m not opposed to Suburbans. Personally, I think it would make a great camp-mobile for the wife and I in our newly-achieved retirement. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have the towing capacity I want...so will be buying the new Ford F150 Crew Cab.
Parallels? I went deep into the comments, and found that most of the ladies at AT agreed with the article. Here? Not so much.
« Their ignorance and arrogance makes me sick. »
Same here.
They seem to love the vicarious feeling of absolute power when they vote for goosestepping, power-loving, Constitution-hating, adolescent Democrats.
IMHO
Wise, wise words.
I’m a little surprised here on FR how so many people demand the VOTERS change.
If you own a store, and people aren’t buying your product, you can run around ranting about how stupid the voters are, blaming the education system, whining about your competitor cheating . . .
Or, you can find a way to compete and market your product. I believe we have superior products across the board, but we are being vastly out-messaged.
Democrats were highly motivated and had a huge turnout. Republicans were motivated too but didn’t get the turn out the Dems got. I blame Paul Ryan (and McCain) for not keeping the promises made on the campaign trail. Not funding The Wall and not repealing Obamacare were big betrayals of GOP voters. Keep stabbing GOP voters in the back and expecting them to turnout and vote for you is not a winning plan.
“”Who said anything about ALL suburban women?””
The writer did say MOST, didn’t he? I don’t like generalities - if he didn’t have specifics, he should keep quiet!
And WHERE is the fact clear as you state? Someone’s opinion?
“”Most suburban women work in an office””
Again with the “most”. Yep - I was one until retiring at age 70 but where I worked or lived had nothing to do with my political views.
“”If you are not one of those referenced in the article why are you offended?””
Gee - First time here at FR that I’m told what should or should not offend me. There’s an awful lot going on in this country that doesn’t personally affect me but I can still be personally offended - I think!
“”I am genuinely bemused at FReepers who take offense at a theory or article accusing a demographic of incompetence or malfeasance to which the don’t belong””
I definitely hope you’re kidding. Just don’t question anything written or spoken if it doesn’t pertain to you personally, right? WOW!
MOST mass murderers have blue eyes. If you don’t have blue eyes, no offense.
And the article did not clearly support the author’s premise. Another person could turn around and write the exact opposite “premise” on the same subject..
I thought it was more surprising that 40% of white males supposedly voted for Democrats (according to CNN). The article at least managed to list some ways that Democrats have managed to make themselves appeal to women, as flimsy as those ways may be, but their offering for men is nothing but a fast-track to irrelevance and poverty.
Their platform is nothing but disadvantageous to men - taxing and regulating productive activities to oblivion, sowing SJWist social discord ultimately aimed at white men, and, increasingly openly, wanting to genocide white men (this is now mainstream enough that openly advocating it does not disqualify Democrats from employment). They are all but dancing on the grave of white male political power. It’s disconcerting that they can still find 40% of white males who think that’s great.
Southack's post was spot-on. It may be easy to blame the women (just like some like to blame the blacks, the gays, Millenials, and a variety of "those other people" for the current state of affairs). However, as the Pew study I referenced shows, except for the Solid Liberal and Core Conservative groups, there are shades of grey along the vast majority of people in this nation. Even more dopey regarding this article, is that most Normal people KNOW this stereotype isn't correct...but hey, writing without research is easy.
Continuing to think that "all we need is for Trump to be Trump" and that "we don't need those 'other people'" is a tribal mindset that guarantees us losing the nation. The lucky thing for those of us who WANT a larger group of MAGA-loving citizens is that there ARE many people on the margins who are sick of being used and lied to. #WalkAway was one manifestation of it. The HARD WORK required to actually WIN THEIR HEARTS AND MINDS is the only obstacle. To paraphrase LS, it wasn't enough for the Betamax to be superior to VHS...you have to get out from behind your keyboard and meet Acutal Other People.
I've said it many, many times, and I get it: maybe some people chafe at the thought of engaging with minorities, gays, Millenials etc. And yes, some men, you can't reach. But I would rather have the likes of Peter Thiel, Candace Owens, Diamonds & Silk, and Ben Carson at my barbecue than Paul Ryan, Willard, Jeb! and George Will.
We have been entrusted with a republic - if we can keep it. We have two years to reverse course. Who's with me?
All the suburban women I know voted Republican.
Im with you!
Excellent post!!
The worst thing about SOME FReepers is how they dont really want freedom for all. They want their ways for themselves but they dont want to,extrapolate that others might want their ways too. Once we all are fighting for the same rights and freedoms in our founding documents together, we will have it.
Prejudices against groups are a non sequitur at this point.
Soccer moms are emotional. They care deeply about “fairness” and ensuring gays are not “discriminated” against. They want women to have A “choice” to abort their children if they aren’t convenient. They have been told and believe guns are “scary” and no one should have them except celebrities and law enforcement.
And they vote accordingly.
Good and reasonable post. I think this election is a purging of many of the Bush era RINOs, much like when Obama was elected the demoncrat party was purged of anyone even slightly moderate. Everyone in the democratics party is hard left.
Thats a good post actually
Im fine with helping everyone with constructive issues that help them to help themselves
I am against basing thst specifically on identity based self help
But you knew that already
What was your old nick
