Unfortunately not much better. We are still enslaved by Ca because we still own that original 100 acre property. Now that Ca has destroyed and and all incentive to come there and do business we can’t sell the property.
It is now worthless and no one wants to buy it because of all the ridiculous regulations they will have to comply with if they ever plan to do anything with it. Been trying since 2000 to sell it, no one wants it just because it is in Ca.
I’m going to end up walking away from everything my family invested there for a hundred years just to break that leash of oppression and finally be rid of them.
Trust me when I say that you are better off living in a tent somewhere else than to stay in, or move to Ca. Like I say... I’m going to write a book about this atrocity.
I’m very sorry that happened to your family, although I’m not sure exactly what happened. Does the Democrat run government of California suck? Yes it does. Is it screwing the residents over? Yes it is. Nonetheless the post I responded to was simply fake news.
Um, hey, there are a lot of good people and good voters here who can’t afford to be middle class here. The worst voters don’t want to leave, anyway.

It is called “voter fraud”. There aren’t enough of them, but the Republican party is terrified of them, believes they are the majority and capitulates to them at every opportunity.
No one who is obligated to pay property taxes truly **owns** their property.
The indoctrination starts in Pre-K.
Might want to do some more homework then. I had an FFL and sold firearms in Ca and followed each and everyone of these cases as they came about for 40 years. I once went to jail just for brandishing a plastic toy pistol as someone was trying to steal my car.
He went free because my “deterrent” actually worked and he didn’t steal it. I am the one who got hit because I dared to defend my own property with a fake gun and I “scared him”. I was told that legally “I had to let him take it” and just call the cops next time (public property).
I have been to jail several times over ignorant laws like this in Ca. Luckily I went in front of the same small town conservative judge who knew my family each time. Good guy... Good sensible Judge. None of these left anymore.
And California is the only state with property taxes?

Pittsburgh ‘blue’ people have been moving out to my county over the past ten years....they’ve made the corner of the county like a new suburb sprawl of Pittsburgh. You could see the evidence of that clearly in this election....
How they slowly creeped the boot over us and then squashed and ground us into the dirt is an example and lesson everyone needs to hear and be aware of because it is coming to their neighborhood next.
It really is incredible, And no one is sharing the whole story about how bad it really is there for productive hard working folks. The harder you try... the harder they try to stop you.
someone is awake... This is fact. And for me it is not so much having to pay taxes as it is the impractical unproductive ways they spend my taxes.
I was only lucky the Judge thought the charges were humorous and idiotic at the time. This would not be the case today, today I would have to plea out on a lesser charge even if I was completely innocent. The system is not the same as it was back then. Even if you are innocent you are screwed if you don’t have a LOT of money. Public Defender? Guess who writes their checks...
If we don’t come together and start doing things that truly make a difference there will be nowhere left to go and get away from it.
It’s important to point out we were just one of hundreds of thousands Ca did this to over the last 20 years.
