Focus spurred by an incoming class of lawmakers with F NRA ratings who campaigned on the issue ______________________________________________________________________
WASHINGTONDemocrats say they will pass the most aggressive gun-control legislation in decades when they become the House majority in January, plans they renewed this week in the aftermath of a mass killing in a California bar.
Their efforts will be spurred by an incoming class of pro-gun-control lawmakers who scored big in Tuesdays midterm elections, although any measure would likely meet stiff resistance in the GOP-controlled Senate.
Democrats ousted at least 15 House Republicans with A National Rifle Association ratings, while the candidates elected to replace them all scored an F NRA rating.
This new majority is not going to be afraid of our shadow, said Mike Thompson, a California Democrat who is chairman of the House Gun Violence Prevention Task Force. We know that weve been elected to do a job, and were going to do it.
Mr. Thompson, who represents a district in the Napa Valley north of San Francisco, said he plans to introduce legislation mandating universal background checks in the opening weeks of the new Congress.
The gun-control movements evolution was evident this week following news that a dozen people had been killed Thursday at a country music bar in Thousand Oaks, Calif.

Meh. If they couldn’t do it when they owned the trifecta, it isn’t going to happen now.
Red Flag `snitch on your neighbor’ laws is all they have and only in some blue states. Watch for teary testimony in House committees & Congressthings leading protests outside NRA headquarters, and maybe even a national campaign to demonize gun rights supporters as mean & uncaring, but that’s about it.
Besides, you can either advance legislation or you can impeach impeach impeach, but you can’t do both. Not efficiently, anyway. Then there’s that pesky veto pen.
Only to end up in Mitch McConnells trash can.

yep
Liberals spinning themselves into the ground as usual...
All this is for is their base...........
Once the Government decides to violate and terminate the Bill of Rights, it is the duty and responsibility of the American people to remove that government. Let’s roll!
The Dem leaders know that it won’t go anywhere. It’s just red meat for their base. All talk, no action.
Then in 2020 they ‘blame’ the mean old Republicans for not getting it passed...............
“would likely meet stiff resistance in the GOP-controlled Senate. “
I certainly hope so.
Such deceptive language.
It’s not about “gun control,” it’s about gun OWNER control.
And a fail safe in a certain veto by Trump.
They can pursue it because they know the Senate won’t pass it and Trump won’t sign it.
Gun Control is to inspire loyalty from the base, not to actually achieve.
They had 2 years to make it happen, and didn’t.
They only push for it when they know they won’t win it.
Great fundraiser & voter persuading material.
They don’t dare achieve it, only to end the issue.
Liberals never intend to actually solve any problems.
If they did, the voters wouldn’t need them any more................
If I have a political party whose very existence depends on ‘poor people’, I’m gonna make damn sure there are plenty of them..............
Before Hilter starting rounding up and killing Jews - he took their guns away...
Fascism 101. Take the guns before you do bad things to people.
Go ahead, Satan. Over play your hand.
At this point, I’m not sure why the Democrats don’t just declare they won every election, and have a 535 House majority and a 100 Senate majority.
Democrat thugs don't want to add too many fakes - winning by an amount large enough to make it look like fraud. And they don't want too few ballots that would trigger a recount...
Fraud is a little more paranoid than most people know.
The cheapest way to fight democrat voter fraud is to keep back OUR ballot boxes so they have to guess how many to stuff... making their fraud look more obvious and possibly giving us a win.
How’s recreational drug control working after ~110 years of effort?
More failure than ever.
Fine with me. It never achieves anything other than to lose elections for them.
