Authorities have identified a Facebook post believed to have been made by the shooter around the time of the attack, according to a law enforcement official familiar with the ongoing investigation.
In it, the writer says: I hope people call me insane (laughing emojis).. wouldnt that just be a big ball of irony? Yeah.. Im insane, but the only thing you people do after these shootings is hopes and prayers.. or keep you in my thoughts every time and wonder why these keep happening
When CNN read the post to a friend of Longs, who did not want to be publicly identified, the friend said, That does not sound like Ian to me at all. I dont know what was going through his head when he wrote this. It must have been terrible.
CA has gun control. How is it working for them?
Moron response from the usual collection of moron Anti Gun Jihadists.
Heard all the usual suspects using this push their favorite gun control schemes, namely universal background checks and red flag laws. Both of which CA has. But never mind that, we need to do something!
Meanwhile how many people died in auto accidents across the country yesterday?
In order to get the drugs these shooters inevitably are on, they have to be seeing a psychiatrist. I’m left wondering exactly what’s being said or induced to the shooters while in the care of the psychiatrist.
I heard on Fox he was a “machine-gunner in Afghanistan” and had PTSD, but the shrink who treated him didn’t think he was a danger.
Personally I don’t think you can stop these. People want a solution, but maybe it’s like car crashes. They are going to happen and people will die. No reason to try to ban guns or cars.
There should be an investigation of all the shrinks who have treated mass shooters - I would not put it past our spooks to program them.
I agree with that. And all their targets are soft. A college town bar on teen night. A liberal synagogue. An elementary school. A meeting of black church people. An outdoor music festival. Etc.
“the pills dont cure them.”
A daughter that works for a mental hospital says that frequently a patient is “made normal” while there and then released, and they don’t take their medications and are readmitted.
Looking at the big picture, there is no way of stopping people from harming other people that doesn’t have side effects.
When a group of people get killed all at once it’s national news, but thousands of people are murdered each day one at time and it’s hardly news. When I hear of the mass murders I don’t forget about those individuals.
What makes the mass murders national news is wondering if it could happen to me, not the tragedy of those that died.
I've only seen a speculation regarding “possible PTSD” (which in my professional opinion) is something of a “grab-bag” of symptoms an not usually an indication of “mental instability” and a report of a CRT evaluation clearance.
The murderer's father died when he was 10, in 1999.
A main motivator for them is to go out in a blaze of media. They believe they will be come famous in their infamy.
One study estimated rampage killings could be reduced 30% simply by following a few rules to not glorify the killers.
I saw that mother on the news today. I know she’s grieving now. Maybe in six months she’ll have a clearer head and will resort to logic.
Maybe this one really did happen because someone believed the democrats who keep saying that if we don’t take drastic, extraordinary measures, we’ll all be dead because of guns.
So maybe this crazy guy listened, and took heart, and said “you know, maybe one more mass shooting will finally knock sense into people, before it is too late”.
It wouldn’t be the first time a lefty thought that a few dead people now was worth it for the “greater good”.
And its going to get worse. Look up!
I know a gentleman who is a Vietnam vet who has severe PTSD. He’s not harmed a soul since he came back. Attempting to break into his house would be unwise in the extreme, but he would never dream of going out and doing something like this.
I think that’s true of most people with PTSD. They are unlikely to hurt anyone in most circumstances.
that is wishful thinking
That is exactly the truth. We need mental Illness control. Why is neither party advocating for this? It seems so obvious to me!
“that is wishful thinking”
Maybe. But I lived in Thousand Oaks for many years, and the people there generally were on the conservative side. We left in 2010, and things may have changed a great deal. I can’t say.
Crazy/disturbed + 24 hour news cycle + social media has not been working out too well in my opinion. Maybe letting all the nuts know there are a lot more nuts out there who do evil nutty things created a cascade effect, where before many were content or forced to be nutty in isolation. Can’t see any way to change it now if that is the case though.
