There you go. I’d been telling people for months that Trump could use this vacancies act to replace Sessions any time that he chose to. That Trump wasn’t being held hostage by Senate threats to refuse to approve a new AG.
My suspicion is that Trump and Sessions had this planned out for a very long time. Sun Tzu misdirection.
I never bought the idea that Trump would be willing to let the DOJ founder rudderless, which is a necessary corollary of the ever popular “Sessions is asleep”, etc.
Sessions stepping down leaves the DOJ in the hands of someone not covered by recusal, and takes the Mueller investigation away from Rosenstein. If it’s what I think it is, prosecution of the conspirators is about to begin.
