I understand that. I was specifically asking about the poster's seemingly counter-intuitive link between a rising stock and declining dividends. Shouldn't it work the other way?

"McDonald's announced a 90% reduction in their cash dividend today -- resulting in a massive rise in the company's stock price!" -- said nobody, ever.

I understood the original post to mean that the current tight labor market will be soon loosened with more immigrants coming in to lower wages. Less pay and More profits soon so stock prices go up now.
