“Anyone think Ryan wasn’t sabotaging these races behind the curtain is naive. Ryan threw the rnidterms. That is why he did not resign “

Or they haven’t been paying attention. The party of bush are in the #resist #sabotage mode just like the dems. They never stopped trying to undermine President Trump.

The only reason why the midterms weren’t a complete blow out by the dems is because of President Trump putting this POS party on his back and dragging them across the finish line.

BINGO!!! Trump is really carrying the GOP on his back. I dont even remember or know if Reagan travel to states like he did to campaign.

I still remember the Brexit guy telling the Fox America people he was AMAZED on the last 3 days in 2016 travelling to 9? states to campaign and Brexit guy was ashamed he was whining how how tired he was after Brexit yet trump was older and more energetic.

Let’s not sugar-coat what happened. It was BAD.

Gosh, I just don't want to sugar-coat how bad the Republican House has been since the 2016 election. Worse than useless. Got nothing done, never stood up to back Trump in any confrontation with the Dems, just passed continuing resolutions and avoided Trump's agenda. The swamp, both parties, defended itself, tooth and claw, in a creepy display of bipartisan evil.

What can you do about perpetual incumbents who have no principles, such as Ryan? They were the enemies of the Republic, but now most of them are gone. The Trumpist GOP Congressmen will be the incumbents in 2020.

The good news is Trump is down to one enemy instead of two. Ryan and his GOP Traitors are gone.

Obama, Clinton and Reagan all lost 26-63 seats and without any senate gains. It’s a normal cycle.

Wow, I missed a lot of this today... I was watching President Trump’s amazing 90 minute presser. Thank you for posting this, Kaslin!

The House losses were not better than expected, they will probably be at least 36 and possibly over 40. Let’s not sugar-coat what happened. It was BAD.

That it was and depressing

These were the GOP fossils who had nothing to contribute to President Trump’s success anyway. But having to fill the 42 open seats left by these cowards was an impossible task, and it’s a blessing that the good candidates who volunteered for the fight and the tenacity of our amazing President came through far better than expected..

Partner, Paul Rino was the main reason we lost the House since he should have left the House after he announced his retirement as the Worst Speaker of the House plus Paul Rino is a Never Trumper in addition to being one of the worst "Speakers of the Peoples House" ever.

These Republicans in the House do not know how to lead, period. They could have helped President Trump get his agenda passed but not they were too busy being "Never Trumpers".

The Pubbies in the House are pathetic.

My feeling is the Democrats just outspent and outsmarted the GOP in carefully selected districts. They couldn’t afford to do that on the statewide level, so there was no blue wave in the Senate or governorships. But they found a message that worked and bombarded the right swing districts with it and succeeded. The health care messaging worked, the scare tactics of the GOP absurdly taking away people’s health care worked, and the GOP seemed to be completely inept at offering a response to it. The RNC chair definitely has to go. This is a complete failure on the party level to formulate a rebuttal to the dems this cycle.

“The swamp, both parties, defended itself, tooth and claw, in a creepy display of bipartisan evil. “

That’s it exactly. We knew it was bad when they allowed and funded O’muslim’s fundamental transformation of America but when the GOP turned around and started fighting against Trump, I knew we were farked.

Good riddance to the weak-sister rino losers who essentially are quislings. Get out of the party if you can’t stand and fight. You are replaceable. This is a short term “loss” for a long term gain. We need fighters who stand-up for their President and the conservative principles he supports. We don’t need weak, back-benchers who hide in the darkness waiting around for their pensions..

PDJT is extraordinary. I don’t know how he does it. I would’ve had Acosta physically removed from the press conference and the media would have all screamed, “See, he’s a NAZI!!!”

Trump is a very patient and stable genius. With the energy of 10 people. It’s something to behold.

YES, YES, YES.

For all of Rush's cited reasons and all of yours, too, plus we can't forget or overlook that we lost more than a couple of excellent House veterans due to redistricting and the massive influx of $billionaire money into the Democrat coffers from Soros, Steyer and Bloomberg which totaled almost $300 Million!

For instance, Dave Bratt in VA barely lost due to being vastly outspent and also to having his district redrawn.

Likewise, Dana Rohrbacher in CA was vastly outspent and barely lost, ditto for Darryl Issa's open CA seat. The vicious environmental lawyer, Mike Levin, outspent Republican Diane Harkie by $5 million with the most adorable, squishy, feel-good, bi-partisan, TV ads I've ever seen! Had I not known better, I would have voted for him! The ads against her made her look like a crook from way back. He got his money from the trio of billionaires.

In Pennsylvania, the Democrats got away with political murder when it came to redistricting. I think NC might have also suffered some similar problems.

The news is not all bad. Ryan, McCain, Corker and Flake are history. And with regards to the House, as Rush said somewhere in his program, the new kids such as Occasional Cortex will be challenging the old guard, whether it be R or D. Pelosi may be out the door if such little darling community organizers have their way.

I’d like to agree with Rush, but I can’t.

The point he’s glossing over is that the people who retired didn’t think that they could run as a Trump Republican in their own specific districts.

True that Trump got 9 out of the 11 senate candidates he campaigned for past the finish line. But he only campaigned in red states. The non-Trump Republicans presumably were in purple districts with unfavorable demographics for Trump personally.

I’m thinking of the son of a friend of mine; he is at the state legislature rather than at the national level, and he survived in 2016 - but he had to outpoll Trump in his district to do it.

Trump executed a hostile takeover of the Republican Party, and that maps to a change in the target audience of the Republican Party. That just naturally takes time. If Trump is able to recruit enough good candidates in the next two years to win a Trump Republican majority in the House, that is the best that can be hoped for. And he personally has to win reelection, of course.

Retirings are what allowed the Dems to have the house...

Without nearly 40 house retirings the GOP wouldn’t have lost the house
