I had a significant reservations that Trump would prove to be anywhere close to be as conservative as he made out to be. I however had very little doubt that Sessions would be a tremendous asset to his team as Attorney General.

I have no problem admitting that I was dead wrong on both counts.

Mueller and Rosenstein have the FISA warrants to worry about.

>”What do we know about Whitaker?”

He was a a great TE for Hayden Fry’s Iowa Hawkeyes back in the day. Started in 1991 Rose Bowl IIRC. Was often complemented by Fry for being a hard worker and wicked smart. IIRC he got his BA in 3 years while playing football, did an MBA at Iowa during his senior year, then went to law school at Iowa. Served as US Attorney after law school then left that to run, unsuccessfully, as GOP nominee for Treasurer of Iowa. Went into private law practice in Des Moines. Later ran unsuccessfully for US Senate, being beaten out in the primary by Joni Ernst. I’d lost track of him after that and was pleasantly surprised recently to learn he was Session’s Chief of Staff. I’d missed his (today much cited) opinion piece on Mueller. I’m not a lawyer nor an authority on his record as one, but I certainly don’t see him as a swamp dwelling creature of DC.

Actually Jeff Sessions was a good senator with a lifetime ACU rating of 94%. Sessions was speaking out about illegal immigration long before Trump was on the scene.

Sessions was just a lousy AG. I knew the pick was flawed from the beginning. I knew he would not go after any dems and would bend over backwards to not appear partisan etc. Anyone that knew about Jeff Sessions knew what he was like in that regard.

Bye bye Jeff and enjoy your retirement. AMF.

Trump, you magnificent Bastard. You are the Master of the Universe. The MSM will stop covering the midterms and now the Sessions/Rosenstein/Mueller debacle will return to center stage. Hopefully, the new Acting AG will appoint a second Special Council.

Kris Kobach is available.

Kris would make an excellent choice to fill the Sessions crater. It would serve two important purposes. One, to stick a finger in the eye of all the GOP squishes in Johnson County and two, to rile all the leftist scum in Lawrence and elsewhere.

Resigned rather than fired is much much better. Makes it harder for the media to slam Trump though they will do so anyway. Harder to bitch and moan about obstruction of justice as if the Mueller Probe is justice.

THE KEEBLER ELF IS GONE!

The last time Sessions ran for re-election to the Senate, he ran opposed. If Sessions wanted his seat back, Jones would pose no problem.

Curious as to what is going on here. I apologized - didn’t realize it was a problem. Why am I being blocked from positing?

Is there anyone already in the Cabinet, who’s been through the hearing process already, who would be great in that job?

I’d like to see Ann Coulter be nominated just for the entertainment factor in the hearing process.

That was my exact thought the moment this nomination was made. Don't do it, Mr. President, please! Let him stay in the Senate. We need his vote there. Often apparent "safe" seats really aren't so safe. Why give our opponents an opportunity? It played out precisely along those lines.

Let his be a lesson for Trump and the Party. Make no Executive appointments from sitting Republican Senators, Congressmen, or Governors. There are plenty of capable people on our side outside those offices. Keep them where they are for now. We need their votes. We had some 40+ retirements this past election. Throw in the usual bleeding/losses for first-term Presidents at midterm, and we were facing pretty stiff headwinds. I'm surprised we escaped with the relatively few losses we had. It could have been a much bigger slaughter if not for Trump hitting the campaign trail.
