Robert ORourke lost last night even though he raised more money than any other person who has ever run for the Senate. Hollywood dumped millions of dollars into his campaign hoping to beat Cruz and Bob still lost.
T. Greg Doucette broke down the cost of each Beto vote in what turned into a fairly entertaining thread.
Enjoy.
US Senate for Texas
2012, Paul Sadler Raised: $705,027 Votes: 3,194,927 $/Vote: $0.22 each
2018, Beto O'Rourke Raised: $69,240,350+ Votes (11:33pm ET): 3,413,259+ $/Vote: $20.29 each
Allllllll that money for just 200K+ more votes?

You joke, but...
I meant: 7 percentage points more than Senator Cruz.
Brilliant!!!
But the Rats are becoming the Party of brown antisemitism. A lot of their money comes from Jewish donors. IOW they have a problem down the line.
A lot of these races were closer than we would want. I wonder how much resentment of his Trump-bashing was reflected in the vote.
God bless Texas.
I’m home now. It took awhile but here I stand, free and smiling.
Welcome aboard.
Beto is a freakin BILLIONAIRE.
I give him this: He’s really, really good at dressing his family up and Playing Middle-Class:
His oldest son maintains messed-up hair, wears a battered, thinsulate parka picked up at a 2nd hand store. His wife is devoid of jewelry or garish makeup, etc.
The giveaway is the silly BETO monicker:
Obviously some political consultant saw them as...
1. super rich
2. snow-blind white
3. anglo saxon as hell
So they had to “regular them up”.
And he STILL blew it.
Somehow I dont see Jewish donors shelling out another $20 per vote for AntiSemitic politicians. You dont get to be a billionaire by being that stupid.
well...been perusing the Texas Secretary of State website.
The statewides did ok. But the Court of Appeals (ie, the level below the Supreme) was a legit blue wave. Wow. It’s very depressing. Some very fine Republican, conservative jurists were ousted. A few mods, also, but basically at the Court of Appeals level, it was a wipeout.
All of which is to say....I think there are pockets of Texas, like many places, where Trump is deeply unpopular and the massive turnout helped the dims in those places.
Then maybe add 1% for Beto running a “pretty good” campaign, and you have Cruz down to his 51%. I don’t think it is Trump conservatives abandoning Cruz. (But what do I know.... ).
well I think the title of this thread gives you a hint on why it was closer than it should have been.
If they have to pay $30 a vote or more to seize political power, they will do it. The cost per vote is irrelevant. For them, it is an article of faith. Judaism is NOT their true religion. Leftism is.
That is stellar! Wish President Trump could see that and add that to his nicknames. Also, that would make a great meme.
That’s probably why the lefties love him so much ... they’re a vulgar lot.
In 2 years Trump will be able to say, Remember that economic boom that was killed by Pelosi? That robbed your blue collar paycheck of the brief improvements you were beginning to see two years ago? Trumps hold over blue collars will increase. Plus he can get all kinds of drug price reductions and highway bills with Pelosi gladly signing up. Trump has painted the Rats into a doze different corners here.
I hope you are right. You very well may be. It’s just hard to shake off the disappointment of last night. Perhaps 2020 will be a blockbuster election for conservatives and the future of America!
