In NC, Republicans fend off Democratic US House challengers

Raleigh, N.C. — Democrats across the country may have picked up enough seats to gain control of the U.S. House Tuesday night. But in North Carolina, the party failed to flip any of the congressional seats held by Republicans in races targeted by millions of dollars in political advertising – aside from one race that could come down to a recount.

If the unofficial results Tuesday night stand, the makeup of the state's congressional delegation remains unchanged with 10 Republicans and three Democrats.

Republican 2nd District Congressman George Holding defeated Democratic challenger Linda Coleman in an expensive and hotly contested battle for a district that covers the outside edges of Wake County and areas to the south and northeast.

The Dems and their money men poured multiplied millions into the Coleman campaign. Her ads ran nonstop. Holding countered with good ads of his own. Very expensive campaign on both sides....but so glad the ultra liberal Coleman lost! And all the Repubs from NC in Congress won or are leading.....(Mark Harris has a slim lead but he is ahead).

Unofficial election results Tuesday night showed Holding ahead of Coleman 51 to 46 percent. That's a closer contest than when Holding ran in the newly redrawn district in 2016, when he carried it over his Democratic opponent 57 to 43 percent.

In other good news, the voters of NC voted in favor of a NC Constitutional amendment requiring voter ID’s for people to vote in our elections.

The Republican controlled Legislature tried to get a voter ID law passed some time ago, but the Supreme Court threw that measure out saying it was unconstitutional.

Now maybe with this change to the NC Constitution, the voter ID law will finally have to take effect.

Not too bad. Here in Iredell County We stopped a County Sales Tax increase of .25%.

Could have been much worse results.

My vote against McReady in District 9 really counted - Harris won by about 2,000 votes.

Oh and SUCK IT judges. You can’t claim voter ID is unconstitutional now because its part of the constitution. We WILL have voter ID.

The state Board of Elections is still calling Dist. 9 “uncertain,” last I checked. It’s close. Four in my household voted for Harris!

Not wanting to be a Debbie Downer, but it wouldn’t surprise me if a Federal judge overruled the Voter ID amendment before the 2020 primaries.

Yes it is. Most people don’t know that the Revolutionary War was fought over LESS Tax than We are being screwed for now.

The Victims Rights and Hunting should be something that We didn’t have to Vote on, those should be common sense but with Lawyers and Politicians involved, well need I say more...?

Th bipartisan commission BS is a waste of time because they cannot Work or Play together and it will only be R and D no Independent, Green or Lib involved.

Wait two years when the state is forced to redraw their gerrymandered districts as the courts have ordered and see what happens.

These NC nail biters are what happen when this giant flood of New Yorkers continue to invade the state like a caravan.

Even the ones who think they’re conservative are liberal. It’s New York conservativism.

True.

But I feared the worst - losing the repub candidates who were incumbents in Congress due to NC being invaded by (ahem) those dxxx yankees!

And we didn’t lose any of them in the US Congress - except maybe for the Mark Harris contest that is still too close to call. Hooray!

The Mark Harris contest goes right to the point. That part of North Carolina was solid red — until the developments and Mc-mansions appeared in Union County to support the mass influx of New York interlopers.

It’s only a matter of time now. Eventually it will get to a tipping point. It’s pretty close now. I predict NC will flip to permanent blue within the next generation.
